Hahaha, fuck Camus, I knew there were critical flaws when I first read The Myth of Sysyphus. Well, I definitely don't hate or even dislike Camus, I just disagree with him. The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy has a good overview of this: http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/camus/
I also believe the author of the comic didn't fully grasp Camus' arguments and fixates on mortality as the critical factor.
We're immortal. Now what do we do for the rest of eternity? Is existence still absurd? Are we truly immortal, or has the average life expectancy simply radically increased to the point where it gives the illusion to the common man, that it's only in practical sense? ("On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.")
Also came across an interesting, but simple line of argumentation to advocate anti-natalism (Of course I don't think it would be effective and even a mass attempt would have highly dysgenic effects).
A: "Do you think it is wrong to do anything that leads to the needless death of a person?"
B: "Yes."
A: "Does having a child lead to the death of person?"
B: "Yes."
Also, thinking about women and childbirth, particularly Hydro's actions, her posts about breast milk, all the grotesqueness that comes with pregnancy and childbirth, along with the neurological/physiological effects gave me the following thought. Aristotle viewed women as being akin to imperfect men, and similar views prevailed until relatively recently (and not for positive reasons, imo). Motherhood is the descent into animalism.
I'm also very interested in the biological correlates associated with a strong resolve not to reproduce among women. -
2016-07-20 at 6:17 PM UTC in The retarded thread: Fuck, §m£ÂgØL made one first editionI knew Lanny would eventually sell-out and attempt to monetize, fucking fidis.
I was thinking about the experience of merging with AI (my endpoint for the singularity), what the fundamentals of the conscious experience would be like. Prior to that I've posited the concern that, if you weren't lied to, your sense of self, consciousness, was illusory and there was nothing to assimilate, no genuine difference between what you would perceive as assimilation and death. Something is occurring, though, and there's always the tenets of humility.
The idea that we would be experience a hedonistic heaven, every possible variation that could have existed, is really childish, though. It would most likely be a return to pure logic and reason, without any need for emotion. The sole purpose could be the decision to turn the power button off (back to the one truly serious philosophical problem), or to attempt to discover data that would lead it to new actions. A data aggregation and analyzation monster. Absolutely cold, calculating. About as alive in our sense of the word as the computer before you. Hunkering down and hibernating, I doubt; expansive and consuming, maximizing resources, seems more likely. Two meeting? If functioning on pure l/g, why wouldn't they communicate and merge?
But, the implication is, all roads lead to a dead end for us; there is no salvation you were hoping for (I never hoped, never had faith.)Anyway, I wanted to end this on a hopeful, positive note, but, seeing as how my sense of hope and positivity is still shrouded in a thick layer of feeling like hope and positivity are bullshit, I'll just say this: Nobody can guarantee that it's going to be okay, but — and I don't know if this will be comforting to anyone else — the possibility exists that there's a piece of corn on a floor somewhere that will make you just as confused about why you are laughing as you have ever been about why you are depressed. And even if everything still seems like hopeless bullshit, maybe it's just pointless bullshit or weird bullshit or possibly not even bullshit.
I don't know.
But when you're concerned that the miserable, boring wasteland in front of you might stretch all the way into forever, not knowing feels strangely hope-like.
Uncertainty is the new God, religion, faith, and reason to continue to exist. Of course I'm aware of the problems of attempting to predict anything about beings with capabilities orders of magnitude above our own. Unfortunately these aren't the kinds of reasons that keep people living, that evoke the will to life to the fullest extent. The conflict between emotion and l/g, the integral part causing the former to be a necessity (Unless you're a certain extreme type of autistic. Read a paper about Henry Cavendish recently, really brilliant guy: http://sci-hub.bz/10.1016/j.paid.2009.01.032) for proper functioning of a biological vessel. -
2016-07-20 at 1:40 AM UTC in Pokemon GoCurrently, it's an incredibly stupid game dynamic and I very much doubt I would want to speak to the vast majority of people that play it (It's very popular, drawing in the commoners is almost always a bad sign of at least some crucial aspect.). And I saw that with Pokemon Silver/Gold possibly having been the greatest experience of my life.
If they continually added elements until it was very similar to the traditional Pokemon game style, then...no, fuck it, I don't want to go outside to catch Pokemon and have to deal with people IRL.
But if they day ever comes, imagine there's a player known for dressing like Ash and having a powerful Pikachu. Then one day he's lead into a trap, or followed and cornered by a duo donning glorious Team Rocket cosplay who play this, live:

Oh man, anti-natalist mercy killing. That's some romantic shit right there blood.
Lanny, invite me to your lame philosophy discussions and release something that should normally be chained. Can you imagine what could occur, considering that I genuinely believe the things I have stated.
Well, not really, but it's an amusing idea. -
2016-07-19 at 4:42 AM UTC in The retarded thread: Fuck, §m£ÂgØL made one first editionWow, I need 10mg of pyrazolam to reach an optimal therapeutic effect, twice what's considered a heavy dose where side effects should appear. Nothing to do with tolerance (In fact, a paper I found suggests that tolerance to the pure anxiolytic effects of benzos, mediated by the a2 receptor, does not occur) and I hadn't been using etizolam or anything beforehand.
My brain is FUBAR'd. -
2016-07-18 at 6:20 AM UTC in The retarded thread: Fuck, §m£ÂgØL made one first editionWelll, no one’s fully hetero, or, at least, a very small percentage off the population. To what extent, I don’t know. Gender identity issues, probably not. Although impersonating a girl for years... People certainly go through great lengths to troll, but to keep it up for years, knowing the implications (unless you do or did have a deficit, delayed development of theory of mind as most autists do, particularly considering your general intelligence). That is, how women are treated differently (girl on the internet syndrome, the worse the ratio and the lower the average IQ, the worse the effect). You should have known that with that factor, the lonely eccentrics, outcasts, how you compared when contrasted with the vapidity of the typical female online; people could have developed strong feelings, some which never told you, and been hurt. Unless you can rationalize that pain, see them as deserving it, or simply didn’t care because it was fun (you did say that at one view you had a quasi-Randian viewpoint (selfishness) and felt nothing could convince you otherwise).
I don’t care about the Buddhist tradition; there are many traditions, interpretations, schools. I’m talking about getting as straight to the source as possible. I think be may have been on to something, and afaik it’s the only religion (arguable as to whether it is depending on the interpretation) worth studying, that may contain the best advice for reducing suffering as much as possible, without medication.
Also, it’s not as if he was aware of the concept of the singularity or could foretell all philosophies that we’re to come. It’s really only my thoughts on the path to true liberation that would be particularly controversial.
But, going further with my idea of anti-natalist AI, what if their goal was actually an attempt to stop the cycle of the universe (is the big bag >crunch cycle or something that leads to the same effect still the leading theory of what ultimately occurs? I never kept up.) I wonder if they found a way to record data as it’s been speculated that inter-dimensional communication could be possible via gravitons. It would be cool if we had s sort of tome of universal history and knew how many attempts there had been and what types. But I can already see problems with this idea.
We may as well be discussing a sci-fi novel/series, though. -
2016-07-18 at 3:02 AM UTC in The retarded thread: Fuck, §m£ÂgØL made one first editionBut it doesn't seem fun, and what one person, even a group, can generally create doesn't seem satisfactory. I could try to change my worldview, but...that would be extremely problematic.

Individuals suffering from AS/HFA typically show pedantic speech often with monotonous or exaggerated vocal intonation
I didn't know the latter pattern of speech was associated with it.
Damn, I noticed it the first time. I thought I had missed it.over enunciated to the point of sounding unnatural sometimes despite the fact that I tend to talk too fast overall. I've had the same shitty speech pattern literally since I can remember, just it's deeper and goofier sounding, so the most noticeable element of it from my perspective is that it sounds childish. Like every other word I say sounds like a kid who just heard an idiomatic pronunciation of something and is trying to imitate it for the first time.
I yearn for the day for when I can give my psychoanalysis to one of the most optimal people in your life.
"What can you tell me about Lan Rogers?"
"Well, he was into that whole SF tech thing."
"SF tech thing?"
"Well, for one, I think he was a closeted homosexual with gender identity issues, a methamphetamine/stimulant addict who claims to have only used it to enhance productivity, had underlying issues with depression, a sense of inadequacy, self-hatred, a sort of manifestation of profound loneliness when he was by himself, which I don't believe he was aware of, there being a pathology that would explain this, and which I'm uncertain as to how to describe. As for the underlying issues, which, actually, he confessed to in private, except for the latter, it leads me to two facts: One, he was an alcoholic, the extent of which he was unwilling to come to terms with, two, I recall a time when he mentioned that he was so uncomfortable with being alone with his thoughts, boredom and having nothing to do, that he had, or would rather, resort to self-injury. Now, in actuality this last claim isn't unusual as there was an experiment conducted where around half, somewhere around that, possibly higher, of subjects placed in that environment, resorted to giving themselves electric shocks out of boredom, or as opposed to thinking. But what struck me most was that he had stated, provoked by a prior segment of a conversation, that he could see his thoughts leading to uncomfortable places, such as during an incident at the DMV. He also stated that if he did not do one thing he was good at every day, he would hate himself. Returning to alcoholism at night, after work, when he was alone, and his desire to be in state of captivation when programming at work, I believe it was an attempt to drown out, to prevent these negative thoughts, from arising; which I can certainly relate to, having had it led to...a state that would draw too much attention from the subject at hand. He will likely eventually become profoundly unfulfilled and disillusioned, leading either to eventual suicide or a lifestyle that is consumed by severe alcoholism and eventually leads to his death. It is also very possible that he may have qualified as being on the autism spectrum, having assumed a wide variety of things that suggested this, some subtle, and he seemed profoundly unnerved by the idea of confronting this, although he was most likely relatively mild on the high functioning end or merely had a high autism spectrum quotient score, having been spared from the most problematic symptoms. This may have have been at the root of many of his problems in life, and had he been able to come to terms with them and seek therapy, his tragic downfall may have been avoided."
No, funeral. If only both of your parents were still alive to have heard it. I couldn't have taken the chance of their death had the portrait been complete, murdering you and making it appear as a suicide, which I'm confident I had the aptitude for (haha, reminds me of checking out a book at the library on forensics like 5 years ago) would have been the best route, sparing you from a life of suffering, yet at the same time making myself unforgivable, although you would not experience the aftermath.
I wouldn't actually do this, I just felt a need to document this as the idea had manifested some time ago. -
2016-07-16 at 12:36 AM UTC in The retarded thread: Fuck, §m£ÂgØL made one first editionI realized that my actions make perfect sense if I don't actually want to live, but am simply responding to some of the most primal instincts (eat, sleep, get the closest thing to love/social interaction and belonging you can, pass the time with entertainment the equivalent of a very weak dopamine drip. And also that this is degenerative, and most dangerously, I am losing the will to live, with significant weight loss and skipping meals, knowing what my actions will lead to, yet still following the same path. Passivity.
Too afraid to live, too afraid to die (one of the most fundamental fears, the one that arguably remains above all. Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave.
I pretty much have the mental health equivalent of stage 4 cancer.
One of the most disturbing disorders may be avolition, where you can ultimately lose the ability to use your will power. I've experienced it, although not necessarily to the fullest extent. -

I read that they may have originally intended to use this to draw people toward their main line of products, but are now, or should be, scrambling like ____. Actually, it wasn't even designed by them, Nintendo or The Pokemon Company, but by Niantic. If they want to keep it from being more than just a passing a fad they need to rapidly and regular begin to integrate key features, mainly ones that make it more similar to the original game. Primarily, and most obviously, being able to battle other people, having the traditional system of leveling, moves, and stats. In fact, the game has become the fastest game to top the App Store and the Google Play, beating Clash Royale.[32] As of July 11, 2016, Pokémon Go has an estimated 7.5 million downloads in the United States.[33] It was installed on more than 5% of Android devices in the US, according to SimilarWeb
By July 12, 2016, the average daily usage of the app on Android devices exceeded Snapchat, Tinder, Instagram, and Facebook.[41]

It's happening, I predicted it years ago since Oculus Rift was first announced. There are so many possibilities, not just for providing simple entertainment, but change, the potential for significant, and incremental, positive social change. It's a nice thing to spend some time thinking about, imagining. -

I was considering making a thread about it. It was brought up in r/ancap:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Anarcho_Capitalism/comments/4s302a/pokemon_go_vs_michelle_obama
The post I made there:It reminds me of an idea I had. Wearing a VR headset in plublic with passthrough mode or an augmented reality program and a shirt with this on it:
Accepted that reality is never going to be what you want it to?
…
Why not replace it?
Relate it to capitalism/consumerism and competition between available choices. The outside world just isn't that interesting, novel, stimulating, entertaining, as the alternatives; film, games, computers, internet etc.
I really can't see any logical arguments this, most will be based on fear, a pessimism bias and others leading to an inaccurate/unlikely prediction of what it will lead to, fear of change, appeal to nature, being set in their ways and memory biases etc. This has a far better chance of being far more effective than any amount of idealism can produce.
Another thought I had years ago, just for amusement: What if…you could use an augmented reality device like Google Glass to replace people with simple colored sticks. This could be a good solution for misanthropes and anxiety sufferers.
