And that's why karma is tomfoolery. In order to fulfill itself, it has to continue a never ending cycle that provides 'karmatic justice' only 50% of the time.
For example, Jimmy steals 9 apples from Mrs. Bunn's apple tree. A few weeks later, karma gets Jimmy when a boy named Timmy comes and steals his bike. Now karma is even with Jimmy, but even though Timmy helped unknowingly fulfill it, he also did wrong by stealing the bike, and so karma has to fulfill itself for fulfilling itself.

You need to ask more questions and listen rather than try to lead or dominate the conversation. People love to talk about themselves, so you will appear more likeable if you ask probing questions about them. Then listen intently and repeat back some of what they say to show that you were listening.

Eh, I have two co-workers who tell me shit all day long and rarely shut up, and when they do stop I definitely don't think 'this is awkward', I think 'thank god, I can enjoy some silence.'
The uncomfortable silence people are just too stupid to have anything interesting to say so they say the only thing they can think of, hoping the other person will take the reigns again.
I agree that talking in ten minute blocks of chat is probably not the best form of 2-way casual conversation and that intermittent questions are key to a good back and forth dialogue, but either way, if you get uncomfortable when I stop talking, it means you're weird and stupid.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -
