I've always had a fascination with nomadic cultures and ways of life, going back to my teenage years. My biggest dream in life was to live permanently out of an RV/motorhome. I read all kinds of stuff on survivalism techniques for subsisting on an extremely simple diet, and replacing modern conveniences such as:

Electrical ovens (replaced by solar oven):

As well as learning some basic farming and agricultural methods.

Then I started learning about the whole Off-Grid lifestyle, where electricity doesn't have to be done without entirely (solar panels, hydroelectric generators, etc).

A bit later in life, I read Thoreau's Walden, and I became all the more enthused about it all.

Then there are the Mongolians and the yurt, the Amish and their incredible work ethic and civic mindedness (like when the whole village gathers to build a barn in a single day).

The closest I've ever come to actualizing this dream was when I took the plunge and bought a minivan (definitely not as luxurious to live in as a full size motorhome), and took the two sets of seats out of the back and threw in a mattress.

I actually managed for the better part of a year like that, but there were definitely some complications that had simply not occurred to me. For example, the heat in the Summer can be absolutely brutal - I became quite adept at chasing down shaded locations all day.

Anyway, my point is just that I have a tremendous interest and admiration for just about all things nomadic/off-grid/self-sufficient/etc.

Not gonna lie, threads like this depress me.

If y'all gotta hate people, and I mean IF you have to hate people (Life Pro Tip: You don't)... At least hate individuals for their individual actions, not entire groups for perceived conspiracy-level plots and sleights.

Are you talking about That 70's Show?

You're not the first person to think that's where it's from.

I like that show and all, but my avatar is from a 90's music video...

I'm just trying to be diplomatic.

The thing is, you can still be kind of a dick to people sometimes, and I'm not going to jump right in every single time.

I've seen first hand that you are a genuine person with a lot to offer. But I've also seen you be really cruel sometimes.

The way I see it, the better part you display is the real you, and when you're being a dick, it's probably just coming from a place of temporary negativity.

As long as it doesn't put me at odds with other friends of mine on here, I will come to your defense. But if I encounter a situation where you are at odds with someone else I have an equal degree of appreciation for, I'm probably just going to sit at the sidelines. It's just too much unnecessary drama and tension.

This is definitely a concern that I considered as well.

The up-side is that countries that have started to decriminalize all drugs, like Portugal for instance, have found overall decreases in addiction and general use of "harder" drugs, and an increase in people seeking help for recovery now that they don't feel as stigmatized.

But, on the other hand, I do wonder if they factored in the issue of already-popular mainstream/legal drugs like alcohol. Alcohol is just so commonplace that nobody gets judged for getting downright drunk. Yet alcohol is a factor in so many injuries, accidents, deaths, and various acts of violence and destruction.

I'm simultaneously an absolute skeptic when it comes to paranormal phenomena, but also have a huge interest in such phenomena.

I like "real life" ghost stories and haunted houses, for example.

But I maintain extreme doubts about the veracity of any claims of supernatural hauntings and so forth.

But a part of me really yearns to see some direct evidence.

    I've been in twice...

2005 (Voluntary self-admission): I was having a bit of a mental break down and just couldn't handle life and genuinely thought I was losing it. I just went into the E.R. and said I needed help.

2014 (Involuntary hold): I told my family I was going to kill myself, and I went a bit crazy and grabbed a kitchen knife and started ranting about how I just couldn't go on anymore. A major factor here was that I was rapidly tapering off methadone, and truly felt like life without opiates was just plain not worth it. A cop came and he tazed me and cuffed me and brought me into the ER.

I was only in for ~5 days. For the first night, I was strapped to a bed, but told one of the nurses that I have a ritual and need to jerk off every night before I go to sleep. I started to pretend to do it (as best as I could given how restrained I was). They told me I could, alternatively, sleep alone in a super high security cell (it was identical to the drunk tank cell at any local police precinct).

Then the next day they moved me into the 3rd wing with all the really mentally ill folks - either experiencing full on psychotic breaks, or expressing serious danger to themselves or others, or just plain non-responsive. It was pretty brutal, but I think I was only in there for one night.

The next night they moved me to the 2nd wing. It's still on lock down, but the people in there are more calm, lucid, and you can actually converse with them.

One of the psychiatrists in the wing was actually one I had seen before separately, and we got along well. I was also really cooperative because it's not a very pleasant place to be (and the boredom drove me pretty crazy). Combine all that with the fact I have a degree in psychology (yes, just a bachelor's degree, but you still have to take a handful of clinical psych classes to graduate - so I kinda had a pre-existing understanding of how the whole process works), and so I was able to get myself released pretty promptly, relatively speaking.

The biggest advantage to LEGALIZING drugs (simply DECRIMINALIZING them might not be as effective for this, though), is that it takes drugs off the black market and thus reduces the potential profit margin incentive that cartels and criminals capitalize on.

There are like a million good arguments for decriminalizing or even legalizing ALL drugs, but the most practical one, IMO at least, is that it would completely eliminate the existence of cartel enterprises, as well as most sectors of organized crime throughout the world.

And then a secondary benefit from the exact same policy change would be a MAJOR decrease in government spending on investigating, arresting, and detaining drug users and dealers.

Long ago, in the before time, I made a promise to both Grimace and mmQ that I would prepare word clouds for them like the one I made for infinityshock...

Finally, all this time later, I am damn near able to complete them.

The two things holding me back a little bit at this very point in time are:
    1. I'm drunk right now.
    2. There are at least 50,000 files to parse (one file per thread page).

Anyway, I am a man of my word, and will fulfill said promise.

I just need to finish aggregating, parsing, and extracting all the relevant data.

Then I need to run it through my word counter (it applies a "stopword" enhancement so the list doesn't end up being a bunch of words like "the", "and", "a", etc).

But, within a reasonable timeframe (let's say... 24 hours), I will post them.

They say a black man is a pimp.
Well let me tell ya, the biggest pimp, on planet motherfucking Earth, is her momma.
It's her momma that told her, "get a man that got a good job girl. make sure he got a good car girl."

What ever happened to falling in love with a nigga with a bus pass?
