    a rifle has to have a minimum barrel size of 16" shotgun, 18"…anything shorter than that is considered 'AOW'…or 'any other weapon'…and has to have a speshul tax/permission slip. BUT a rifle can have a shorter barrel if it doesnt have a stock, then is considered a pistol and has no restriction other than being considered a pistol. once a rifle/pistol is named a rifle/pistol, that is what it has to always be throughout its life. as in…you cant get a pistol, add a stock, and say 'abracadabra youre a rifle'
