I had ONE, ONE real-life friend I introduced to Totse. He posted for a few days, but, sadly, he OD'd only a few weeks later.
His username was: 3XP3RIM3NT4L or some variation on that.
So, technically that is another Totsean lost to drug overdose.
He was an awesome guy, and there's a reason I introduced him, and only him, throughout my entire life, to Totse. I had tons of friends IRL, and I kept Totse as a secret haven away from them for ever.
But I introduced that one friend.

2018-12-15 at 11:08 AM UTC in How do our brains figure out how imitate sounds with our mouths? So basically, we have a short window of opportunity to learn language, apparently.
If we are not taught language (and usually, that just means being around other human beings who speak the same verbal language as us), we actually risk missing the opportunity to do so.
I mean, think about it, how many people ever end up in Genie's situation, or the feral African wolf kid?
I can't say I'm all that familiar with the feral wolf kid from Africa, although there is a tale about a feral wolf-raised kid from somewhere in Europe some few hundred years ago.
Generally speaking, I approach these cases with skepticism, to be honest. Genie's case is well-documented. I'm not so sure about the African kid, although it is certainly possible.
But if this kid was exclusively around wolves during his formative years, I have to say, I doubt the veracity of the story if he actually ended up learning to communicate effectively.
Granted, Genie is a single case study, and it can seem like a stretch to apply that kind of thing to all humans everywhere. But there is other evidence, such as neurobiological studies, and other anthropological/sociological experiements, that have come to similar conclusions.
Linguistically, we are confined to a certain brief window during childhood to gain any skill. -

Robbinhoody - If you don't know who Robbinhoody was, you may be too much of a Yung Blood. You may not even need to continue reading this thread.
Gun Lover - We used to talk to each other about drugs a lot. Never about guns though, despite the name. I think he might been a mod of BLTC at one point.
Gustav/Guswut - This one goes way back, but I am curious as to what this motherfucker done been up to.
Silverfuck - Well, if you've seen her pics, 'nuff said. We came close to meeting in person, too, when I was living in Ottawa (near Toronto or wherever SF was from... she also went by Sophistry too at one point, I think).
CreamOfAndyWarholSoup - This dude did not have a particularly high post count, but he was one of the few Totseans I met in person (when I was living in Ottawa).
deadlycindy - She was mod of Bad Ideas - and back when I actually used to post there all the time (I used to do crimes and shit - long time ago, like 2004/2005 - I don't anymore).
bloodydiaperman - Probably the most (in)famous of all Totseans. I mean, he ran for city council or mayor or some shit, and had some crazy stories and YouTube videos.
Tr1p - FUCKIN TRAINS, MAN!!!!! IT'S A FUCKIN TRAIN!! Also known for his gargantuan nose.
MrMojoRisin - She was mod of S&A, I believe. Kinda hot (from one picture of her boobs in a bra - that's about all I can remember).
Metaphysicist - Everyone knows who he was (mod of BLTC, eventually mod of SG, where he ruled with an iron fist; was in a band; was also crippled in some capacity).
Glitterpunk112358 - Those numbers were the Fibonnaci sequence. This chick was a narcissist but reminded me of myself.
breed - Another poster that wasn't particularly popular on Totse, but I met him in real-life (in Southwestern BC, Canada).
soro_one - Yet another poster that might not have been Totse-famous, but I met him in real life.
Pyrohydrosmok - Mod of BLTC; also fucked a bagel.
Sick_Boy (sp?) - There was more than one Totsean who named themselves after the Trainspotting character, but there was a gal from Alberta with the username. Her geographical proximity makes me think of her that much more frequently.
Some more (don't even know for sure if they were ever on Totse, but might have been on, say Zoklet):
Tachozoma (sp?) - Is it just me, or is his face on one of the NIS banners??
That's all I can think of for now.
I'm sure dozens more will pop into my head later on after I post this.
And for the record, I think it's really cool that Panthrax is still around (i.e. Grimace). I would have probably listed him above if I didn't know that he's still here.
If anyone else thinks of anyone they miss from Totse days, mention them here. -

2. Top tier cognac
3. Top tier red wine
4. top tier whisky
actually why would you want to drink anything else?
top tier, btw, does not mean hundreds of dollars. nothing i hate more than posers that know nothing about shit and tout around $200 bottles of absolute garbage.
I will occasionally splurge on an aged single malt whiskey, but that's about the only kind of liquor where the taste even matters to me.
Most of the time, not gonna lie, my end goal is to get a buzz going, so the taste of what I'm drinking is of little importance.
But a decent single malt, I will sip on it slowly and enjoy it.
Red wine, I can't say I even know a Merlot from a Shiraz, but I don't mind red wine.
Cognac ain't so bad, but again, I don't have a whole lot of experience with it.
What is Brandy? Is Brandy Cognac? Or am I conflating two totally different things?
Sherry, though, you've captured my interest, because I've only EVER seen the truly destitute drink Sherry.
And I'm not saying that because I'm trying insult you or call you poor, let alone unrefined, or anything like that.
I'm genuinely curious about Sherry.
Because there has to be more to it than bums buying it because it's the (mathematically speaking) cheapest way to get drunk - IF you get the right stuff.
Like any other liquor, I'm sure there's quality Sherry out there to balance out the stuff the bums love.
(And boy do they love it... a few weeks ago, I bought a CASE of the cheap Sherry and drank with a group of homeless alcoholics... They were so appreciative... it was among the best $100 I ever spent). -

Originally posted by Rizzo in a box I've got that paranoia, too - like I said, part of me regrets every post I make on this site, under this name. I made it when I was 16. it's linked up to many (old, dead) sites and various other information that could seriously compromise if someone really wanted to fuck with me. There's already enough information out there for a malicious actor to fuck me over, and there's nothing I can really do. The FBI and DHS are already aware of me (not just from watchlists), the literal only thing going for me is that I am such a fuck up. God help me if I was successful and had a bank account and a family to threaten. There's not very much to take from me…but it can always get worse, which is why I'm still paranoid.
I feel like this dovetails into a broader discussion about privacy and security, which is more of a solemn prayer to the things we once had, rather than a discussion.
Well the fact that you kept the same username is one thing I will continue to respect about you.

Originally posted by Rizzo in a box considering the reaction I've gotten, I wonder if people would really want to see some of their totse favorites actually come back. people change, the worlds changes, the internet changes. the weird wild west that I grew up with isn't the corporate, walled off, everything connected internet that we have today. even at the time of zoklet things were starting to seriously go downhill. in 2018, almost 2019? this a totally different world.
can't imagine a forum like totse, with all those weird and illegal people coming together for great discussions. JP we will probably never see, along with some of the smarter or more subversive posters. Or the ones that were smarter and ended up working for the feds (there were a few of those on totse as well).
if I was growing up today, or if I had to give advice to a hypothetical child, I would definitely not recommend the free-wheeling internet usage that gave us all so much enjoyment. In 2006 I felt comfortable talking about my drug experiences and asking questions on a weird fringe forum not connected to my name. in 2016 everything you do online is part of your digital brand and your employers want to know all your social media. every online service is connected to everything else and a profile is built up of you.
this is terrible, I would never have been able to enjoy the many great stories I read on totse that inspired me to share my own wacky misadventures, with this constant threat of weaponized offense, deplatforming, etc.
honestly feel like its even a bad idea to post here, now, under this name, with the presumption that this is my actual person. would have been smarter to let this account die.
I think what we had was a good thing.
But now, it's not the same thing it once was.
By posting anything, it's like auto-doxxing yourself.
I've thought of just making a thread where I post my passport photos, street address, and place of business, just to get the inevitable out of the way...
Totse was great for getting together with a bunch of diverse people with similar interests (drugs, pyrotechnics, whatever), and just chatting it up in Internet forums.
Nowadays, people are paranoid as fuck.
I've noticed that a lot of people refuse to use old usernames out of paranoia.
You and I, Rizzo, either we're brave souls, or we're way behind the curve, because we've stuck with our old names for some reason. -

He better be out there somewhere.
All I know is he lived a small town in STATE REDACTED, studied chemistry as an undergrad, and had a thing for opioids.
Also, and this is ironic as FUCK, for a short while he had a girlfriend in VAN-FUCKING-COUVER (that's where I USUALLY live, for the record)... He ended up coming out to my home town for a while to be with his GF... I happened to be living in Ottawa at the time.
Anyway, FIRST NAME REDACTED (I hope he doesn't mind me using his government name instead of his username), WHERE ARE YOU?

MY LAST INTERACTION WITH HER (on Zoklet) WAS ABOUT OPIATE ADDICTION...

Maybe it was the drugs
Dude, I have to google the precise definition of modulo and modulus all the damn time.
My brain retains a vague general understanding of it, that it involves dividing two numbers and a remainder, but the exact mathematical/code syntax to use the modulo operator, no matter how many times I use it (since it is pretty sparingly, albeit consistently), will always give me pause for thought.
And even returning to the topic of recursion I brought up earlier... At least I think I did in this thread...
Anyway, there are some parts of programming, or really any skillset, that you only get better at with practice, but may always sustain some degree of confusion.
Either that, or we're both dumb from all the drugs.
But the way I see it is, even if the quantity and variety of drugs I've done over the years has essentially "fried my brain", or even if I was just straight up born with a low IQ, or maybe the ADHD I talk about having all the time is a real thing, or who knows what...
Don't let thoughts like that act as barriers to learning a new skill.
You clearly demonstrated in this thread and through Kik throughout the day that are capable of learning some of the fundamentals of programming.
And if you can learn the fundamentals, you can learn anything.
Eventually, the out-of-reach-stuff becomes the new "fundamentals". -

I also wanted to touch on that point too...
So, with very little (basically none-whatsoever) formal education in programming, computer science, or software development, I find myself currently in a position at a startup where my job title, at least on our company website, is "Blockchain Developer."
It's kinda surreal to me for a whole host of reasons, one of which being that I have ZERO interest in crypo-currencies.
I know what Bitcoin is - I use it to buy drugs off the deep web.
But the whole cryptocurrency fad is just, utterly uninteresting to me.
So, I generally do not lead with my job title when I meet people, because then they always wanna talk about cryptocurrencies.
Anyway, through sheer serendipitous happenstance, I kinda just fell into this job. I work primarily on software that incorporates PRIVATE/ENTERPRISE blockchain technology, and has nothing to do with crypto-currencies.
A dude I knew - friend of a friend - was looking to hire developers for a new startup, and said they needed experts in private/enterprise blockchain solutions like IBM's / The Linux Foundations' Hyperledger.
So I went and learned everything I could about it, because I need a job (I've been teaching myself programming for the past few years, mostly via Youtube video tutorials, blog posts, and a fuck ton of hobby projects). But I never had a focal point or any kind of niche.
But boy did I ever find one.
VERY few people can claim any hands-on experience, let alone any degree of expertise in private blockchain implementation.
Well, I've successfully deployed both Hyperledger Fabric AND Ethereum's Quorum private blockchains, complete with front-end functionality and everything.
So I basically just kinda slipped, fell, and landed in this niche.
I went on kind of a drunken tangent there, but it's kind of a crazy story though, ain't it?
Exactly one year ago, I was working in a call center doing CELL PHONE BILLING support for pretty much minimum wage.
Now I'm a resident subject matter expert making triple what I made before.
Life can be kinda funny like that sometimes. -

A very depressing, but high scientifically informative, case study tells us a lot about this particular phenomenon...

This poor gal was basically locked up in a room with zero interaction with anyone outside the home.
Her own parent's rarely even communicated with her.
She's apparently passed the point where a human being is even capable of learning to communicate.

But got damn that is a depressing storyline.
OH, OH, and... your child ends up dying believing that you murderered his mother, and utters words of hatred for you with his dying breaths.
OH, and also, that kids mother was a cancer researcher who was actually close to a cure. She was murdered literally days before she was meant to discover it.

2018-12-15 at 4:13 AM UTC in If someone offered you $10,000Actually, I think the worst possible death I can imagine, would be being framed for a murder in a place where they still have the death penalty, and then nobody believing in your innocence, and then you're sitting in that chair where all the people go to watch (don't get me started on how sick and depraved that is to me - even if they actually are guilty), and you have all these people cheering on for this innocent person's death.
And once it's over, their reputation is completely irreparable.
That might just be the most depressing death I can think of. -
2018-12-15 at 3:30 AM UTC in Lanny_loves = faggotsOhh, ohh, Lanny, feature request!
Add syntax highlighting when using code tags.
https://highlightjs.org/ would probably be pretty straightfoward to add in a future iteration.
Then again, though, how many people on this site would really use it?
So I understand if it would be low priority, but maybe just add it to the product roadmap? Make an issue in Jira or a pull request in Github? (Which I guess I could do... I've actually never contributed to another github repo (except obviously when collaborating at work... Maybe I will "fork you hard".) -
2018-12-15 at 3:10 AM UTC in Lanny_loves = faggotsFor some further explanation about the inner workings of our calculate_penis_surcharge() function:
# First note that you have to define your function by giving it a name, and telling it what arguments/parameters to expect.
# In this case, we only pass into it one argument/parameter - The length of a single slave's penis.
def calculate_penis_surcharge(penis_length):
# First, we check if this particular slave is above average in penis length...
if penis_length > AVERAGE_PENIS_LENGTH:
# If they are, then we use the built in "abs()" function to get the ABSOLUTE difference between the two values, and divide that by the average, to get the difference as a percentage.
return 1 * (abs(penis_length - AVERAGE_PENIS_LENGTH)) / AVERAGE_PENIS_LENGTH
elif penis_length < AVERAGE_PENIS_LENGTH:
# Note that we return a negative value if the penis length is below average.
return -1 * (abs(penis_length - AVERAGE_PENIS_LENGTH)) / AVERAGE_PENIS_LENGTH
else:
# This returns zero if any of the slaves are exactly average.
return 0
And there you may notice that I have a bug in my code.
Since the penis surcharge is meant to be like a tax of sorts that is applied to the originally defined COST_PER_SLAVE above, the flaw in my code is that it will actually multiple by ZERO if the slave's penis is exactly 6.0 inches.
For the record, that was unintentional, but it brings up a very valuable lesson about programming.
Bugs happen, and they happen a lot - no matter how experienced you are, you will make mistakes.
I won't start teaching you about Unit Testing yet, but it's a very useful way to ensure that your code does what it needs to do.
But that lesson is for another day.
STAY TUNED! -

Originally posted by GGG I believe in the right to do whatever you want to your body. Grow tits, cut off your dick, tattoo your face like a liserd. Don't give a fuck. Your body is yours.
I don't believe that there is a difference between sex and gender. You are your biology. I mean, the whole 'social construct' respect thing doesn't apply to literally ANYTHING ELSE, so I don't see why it would apply to transgender people. If I told you I felt like I was born black, you would probably look at me pretty crazy. But if I GENUINELY thought that, 100% believed I was a born black, would anybody seriously treat me as black? If I thought I was a fallen angel, would anybody treat me as such JUST because I believed in it? I could do it out of respect or whatever, but I don't feel like lying about my beliefs to people when they think I'm being accepting and nice.
But I like HTS. I think he's pretty rational and objective about the whole thing. He does a good job at passing when he tries, and actually looks pretty cute. I'm sure he doesn't like what I'm saying here, but I just can't accept that he's a woman and I'm not going to pretend like I do. If we could somehow make a transition process that leaves you biologically indistinguishable from a woman, then yes, I would say that you are a woman since you have the chromosomes and the uterus and vagina and etc, etc. But science is shit now and transition surgeries are just drugs and plastic surgery.
Men and women are not simply differentiated by their name. There is biology behind it. There always has been. That people want to pretend otherwise does not change that. I don't say it to hurt anybody's feelings, or because I have a problem with transgender people. We're all equal, but science is science is truth.
I don't want to derail this thread too much.
So I will just summarize my position on it...
I wasn't always comfortable with the notion of calling someone who was born with a penis a woman, or someone born with a vagina a man, whether or not they still possess these same organs or not.
It seemed off to me.
But with time, I came to empathize.
I guess, if I were at peak acceptance/support levels, I would consider HTS, for example, to be completely indistinguishable from a naturally-born woman.
To be totally honest, I don't.
To me, there are gender-based categories, and I'm totally comfortable with considering HTS to be in a category that has certain femininine attributes, including the pronouns.
But if I had to be totally honest, I don't know if I'm comfortable/accepting enough that I would actually be able get fully monogomously/romantically involved with someone who was trans, even after all hormone replacement and full transitional surgery.
So basically, what I'm saying is, on the acceptance spectrum, I'm not perfect, but I do respect her right to be considered a woman in just about every respect, especially something as simple as pronouns.
And the only reason I really brought it up in this thread is because I was genuinely confused by your post when you said "he is wasting your tax dollars on meth" or whatever. You're going against the grain by continuing to use "he".
Also, for the record, anything other "he" or "she", and then I start becoming less open-minded.
I doubt I would ever be able to call someone xhe or "they" in the singular or any of that crazy shit.
But if HTS truly and permanently identifies as a women, even if she hasn't had all the surgery and hormone replacements, she's a she in my book.
