That's the difference here…there was no declared "war" when Hamas attacked civilian residences and killed the occupants.
There would be no reason, but as seen in Ukraine they have used schools and hospitals to hide in, it would be a tough call because maybe some civilians are still there. It would come down to I want my guys to come out alive over strangers, I know the guy next to me and maybe his family and the other is unknown to me.
I would never support just killing non-combatants, I personally feel it is wrong and even if I was a cold hearted bastard it would not help win any battle.
That brings up another question, are civilians innocent if they are supplying food, shelter and intel to the enemy.
I understand your point of killing and raping just to terrorize. -

Yeah it's easy to sit at home and talk about what should happen. If I was some grunt in the field getting pounded I'd call in air support and destroy their position, if some innocents there then to bad for them. -

It goes both ways, doubt Germany was worried about civilians when launching V-1 and V-2s into England. Pretty sure they even called them terror raids.
Each side probably calls each other terrorist and start with small terror raids until you end up destroying entire cities like Dresden or fire bombing Tokyo. War is about killing and destroying each other until one gives up. -
