Coffee is like wine, in that it tells a story about the place it comes from. Roasting it well is an art: the roaster has to understand the chemical composition of the beans and make intelligent choices that bring their natural flavors to the foreground of your palette. When you buy properly made coffee (not whatever Starbucks has scorched and distilled for the masses) it's a totally different experience. For me, this is an everyday learning process, but even if you just care about your coffee once in a while, it can be very rewarding.

No, the uniqueness of coffee depends on climate and soil conditions and the midwest would make really shitty coffee. I roast beans from around the world through a distributor so that I can taste the coffees produced by different regions. It's kind of like wine, in the sense that its taste is highly dependent on both the source and on the process used to develop it.

I know it's sort of gay but it's also a terrific hobby. And, if I play my cards right, I might just make good money selling my coffee to restaurants and coffee shops.

I roast my own beans. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is standard in my household, but I've recently stumbled onto a bean from a Bushoki cooperative in Rwanda that has a beautiful collage of flavor and I really enjoy working that one to an Italian roast, then grinding it for a French press brew. Usually, I drink it black, to admire my work, but a little bit of milk helps with the acidity.

That's nice of you. I just hope she's doing well, mostly, I remember talking to her often in IRC and it was a good time.

I'm partial to the latter, personally. I like the user interface much more because of its straightforward presentation, I like the stability and security of the OS and the fact that they release free updates for compatible machines, and I like that it comes with a bundle of free and essential software to counter the Microsoft products you need on Windows.

I've had good results with HIIT in the past, but I'm skeptical about those door frame bars. Do they often slip or cause damage to the frame? Do I need to get a decent one, or will one of those Walmart brands to the job?

There's so much we know to be factual about our country's history with the CIA and the FBI. MK-ULTRA, where we experimented on our own citizens with drugs like LSD; the work of J. Edgar Hoover to hinder American progress; the CIA meddling in elections around the world including the Middle East. And yet somehow, these actions remain a subject of esoteric knowledge in a nation that doesn't care.

I'm taking a few for mood problems and my initial concern was that it would harm my creativity. I'm a contemplative sort of person by nature and I have a rich internal life, so I had my reservations about drugs like lithium carbonate and citalopram because I thought that they would have a negative influence in this dimension. As far as I can tell, though, they haven't changed those habits in terms of how frequently I engage in creative projects, nor have they affected the quality of my ideas.

Have you got something to say about psychiatric interventions and your personality? If so, what?

I see all these gyms filled with fit people, just lifting their body weight and paying way too much to do it. Can't I just do crossfit at home? What makes it any better than a traditional gym membership?

Academic psychology has obviously come a long way since its founding. I can't count how many times I've heard a psych major explain Freudian thought as obsolete, but I think there are more considerations to be made before his work is entirely discredited.

The scientific method has undergone a paradigm shift since Freud was around. He can hardly be blamed for the shortcomings of someone in his profession, and given the times he lived in it's clear that he took about the most forward-thinking stances on matters of evolution and the brain.

Freud revolutionized the way people think of their own minds. He is the author of our conception of defense mechanisms and the notion that events occurring in childhood can shape the adult personality. His fame is deserved and his contribution of psychology is beyond comparing.
