While I doubt she's accurate in connecting it to Planned Parenthood, I want to know more (if it indeed does exist) such as the setting - was it in a medical office, an apartment, the fucking woods? There's a lot of reasons people abstain from meat. There are health reasons: some have difficulty getting it from point A to point B because of horrible GI diseases, some people have a family history of high cholesterol, obesity, heart disease, etc. Even people who are in good health could often better health with a balanced, plant-based diet. The other reasons (though there is much overlap) are typically ethical in nature.
Factory farming is a lot like the Holocaust. I know, you'll say I'm nuts. They aren't people, right? That's what they said about jedis. Infrastructure blinds you to the nature of your crime, it doesn't absolve you. If an alien force of hyperintelligent bovines captured the USA tomorrow you'd be brought to justice, going down in the books on the wrong side of history. McGraw-Hill would have a textbook about Earth with a chapter on genocide, one page about Hitler and Nazi Germany and the next about you and your dinner table.

You might be mistaken, I'm not offering this service as entertainment or to demonstrate ability, but rather to relieve the survivor of this burden alone. While it is true that I compose the eulogy myself, I can't do so without a useful presentation from the bereaved. If you want me to write on your behalf, I need you to give me proper source material to draw from.
Tell me more about your friend. What were his values? How did he care for his fellow man? Was he charitable? Tell me about an experience you had with him that will remind grieving family of his good heart.

This is valuable to you, and I'll explain why: everybody has their time. Do you think your grandma, your grandpa, mom dad kids pets or whoever would want you to fight with quill and parchment to honor them? Of course not! They'd want you to be happy! The best way you can celebrate their life is by moving on, just leave the dirty work to me.

See, I trust that NPR is thorough in their approach and offer a fair coverage of the majority of issues they feature, but with regards to synthetic cannabinoids they fall short like the others. The problems isn't all their fault, journalists don't have great sources of information. They can talk to police and hear how many arrests have been made, how many car crashes have occurred by people smoking it while driving but not how it doesn't make you into a criminal. They talk to state department officials who work in public health, who tell them the number of emergency room visits and calls to poison control. They tell us about the many deaths "related to" abuse of this class of drugs which is usually a composite of many different causes (most of which are actually better attributed to recklessness and idiocy) rather than a straightforward reporting of the substances toxicity.
It's not as though they're going to get the real scoop, the problem is that news outlets only have law enforcement, lawmakers and (to some extent) medical professionals to turn to when they ask questions about drug abuse. Only the last category can be trusted to carry an interview with honesty and integrity, but they're understandably skeptical towards commenting on something with so little meaningful data and so much bad press. They take an uneducated perspective on a multifaceted topic and use biased sources to produce a series of shaky assumptions, supporting them with bad or even fabricated evidence and for millions of Americans, that's the only way they ever hear about these drugs. It's tow media gets used to generate hysteria and sway public opinion, we see this problem again and again. Legislation is driven by this brand of ignorance; they've learned to count on it and they've learned to use it.
