2023-08-30 at 5:49 PM UTC in Underrated drugs?Maybe not "underrated" in the sense that some people definitely like it too much, but meth is kinda looked down on unfairly I think. Like kids will trample each other to get to the adderall bottle but turn around and declare "meth is for tweakers". I think it's born out of street meth being nasty, manufactured in coke bottles, or cut to shit vs. adderall coming out of a pharmacy but at the end of the day they're pretty similar drugs. If you can not be a degenerate and source decent stuff (which is typically untrue of tweakers, but it's a property of availability, not the drugs themselves) it's basically cheaper addy with the same get shit done and/or spend 5 hours going down a wikipedia rabbit hole tradeoff.

Yeah, starting it today is kinda setting yourself up for a good cucking. It’s really good though. You could stop at the end of the golden age arc which is like actually just the prologue (but it’s probably half the actually published material) and have a reasonably tidy story. I mean you’d have like the whole actual story left out, but there’s not really major loose ends. The stuff after gets a bit more scattered, but there’s also some of the best artwork in the series there. -

2023-08-29 at 11:59 PM UTC in any of you excited about homeworld 3?I played a lot of homeworld 1 and had a lot of fun with it. It felt like it struck a good balance between not being totally brain dead but not also so mechanically intensive that you’re spending more time figuring out the UI than doing actual space emperor shit (looking at you star ruler). Also is wasn’t thinly veiled real-time chess ala StarCraft. I’ve gone out looking for something similar several times but honestly the closest I got was SPAZ which is ostensibly in a totally different genre but also got the fun factor about right for what I was looking for.
So I’ll try 3, but I suspect they’ve fucked up the formula somewhere in the last 20 years. -

I don’t really know shit about shit, but I see everyone talking about flying trains and stuff. It seems like you wouldn’t really need to address the engineering issue of forming a material into wiring or patterning it onto a circuit board to make it useful. Just slap it on a carriage and put it in a magnetic field and you’ve got a floating train, right?
For circuitry what do you get out of a superconductor? Like you lose less power to resistance and don’t generate as much heat, but don’t you still have the same semiconductors still generating heat to produce a logic gate? Does charge propagate though a superconductor faster or something? -
