Lol, I used to spend hours in SC4 wrecking shit with comets. I know the world has sucked the life and joy out of me because I’m now more interested in being a middling bureaucrat and organizing effective city bus lines than raining fire and fury down from the heavens. -

I'm a broke nigga this isn't fair.
I used to be such a Bethesda fanboy that TES games were like the only games I actually paid money for as a broke ass teenager. Now I’m not even going to bother pirating starfield until it’s got a few months of non-shill reviews. Sad times. -

Originally posted by the man who put it in my hood very rarely do I have any psychedelic-like effects from weed compared to when I first smoked it there would be ghosts whispering secrets in my ear and all kinds of crazy intense OEV, CEV, auditory , everything and it slowly went away
This lol. When I smoke regularly it eventually just becomes like -20 iq and a good night’s sleep. Even traditional psychedelics in general have a really weird tolerance (don’t know if that’s even really what it is) buildup. Like the one time I tried doing mushrooms two days in a row, the second day I felt almost nothing other than mildly nauseous. Which is weird because smoking weed while on a traditional psychedelic is definitely not a mild experience. -

Originally posted by Meikai I kept asking it for examples of how classical/"singular" black holes are better supported by observation or how the proposed "regular black hole" equations have been demonstrated to conflict with observations or established experimental data (ie how they've been shown to break the rest of relativity) and it gave me fucking *nothing*. It started yammering about Occam's Razor. Pathetic. Everything it mentioned to try to justify science's unhealthy preoccupation with Einstein's shitty math it admitted - when pressed - would also be true of the incredibly-but-not-infinitely dense cores of regular black holes. It honestly tried to tell me "ahh classical black holes are supported by observations like gravitational lensing", as if any sufficiently massive object or cluster of objects shy of singularity wouldn't cause that.
I’m not a physics guy by any stretch but isn’t the theory of black hole formation that gravitational force exceeds nuclear forces? In such a scenario what would allow for non-infinitesimal volume? It’s definitely true that gravitational lensing doesn’t demonstrate singularity, but I guess I’m not clear on what would govern the volume of a non-singular black hole -

There's a dropdown called "theme" for it on your settings/profile page. Click your name at the top right of any page to get there.

I'm getting into DBA stuff, I never knew how interesting it was.
Postgres. I've been running backups regularly, but I need to set it up again since switching providers. It's pretty solid software, this is the second upgrade I've had to do in the 8 years I've been running the site, and I didn't really need to, new version was just what happened to be available from the new OS.

usually mysql or postgres, no real reason not to use postgres except it's a bit harder
ehh, it's what you're used to. Postgres has better built in (well, via extension, but the extensions are distributed with the base package) text search which I use in ISS. That's one of like two places where I rely on pg specific behavior, otherwise switching to mysql would be trivial, but postgres has always been good to me. -

Were those always done with <svg> tags? Wack.
10x10 looks more normal to me, but something about it still feels off.
They used to be gifs (literally pulled from totse itself) and were sized at 17x17. They were dithered around the edges though so they probably looked smaller.
I had to change them because the old red looked like trash on the new theme and svgs can be re-colored but themes (with some black magicks). I’ll probably bump the size down a little.
Emoticons are on the todo list as well -

2023-08-25 at 3:34 AM UTC in children are innocent and need to be protected from exposure to adult things4real though, medieval European kids were basically free-but-less-skilled labor and generally considered to be mini-adults. The general western perspective on children has changed heavily with... IDK, industrialization? Fuck em I say, send em back to the mines. Builds character.

2023-08-25 at 3:10 AM UTC in Upcoming Site MaintenanceAaand we're back.
Bulk of the changes were security upgrades and switching hosts. Until about 20 minutes ago we were running on a Debian install from 2015 where I had to frankenstein a bunch shit together from source to get a working env that didn't have major security vulnerabilities. I'm sure there's some breakage since this is the first time in 8 years NiS have moved out of its primordial ooze so let me know if you run into any regressions.
The "exciting" new feature is a new theme. I'm a ricelord and I wanted my forum to match my editor/terminal/browser. Sue me. -
