   I got Deserts of Kharak and the Remaster of 1 and 2 for free on Epic over the last couple months, but I've never actually played Homeworld (well, I have, but not since I was like 15 and it didn't click with me back then - I'd been too spoiled by your Starcrafts and Commands & Conquers to appreciate it for the PEAK it is).
   
   I'm hype in the sense that once I beat those 3 games I will have a sequel to look forward to, but (thankfully) not hype in the sense that I wanna pre-order it RIGHT NOW.

   Apples n Oranges, but Stellaris is great. It just doesn't really have a story, whereas Homeworld is a cool af space opera.

    I played a lot of homeworld 1 and had a lot of fun with it. It felt like it struck a good balance between not being totally brain dead but not also so mechanically intensive that you’re spending more time figuring out the UI than doing actual space emperor shit (looking at you star ruler). Also is wasn’t thinly veiled real-time chess ala StarCraft. I’ve gone out looking for something similar several times but honestly the closest I got was SPAZ which is ostensibly in a totally different genre but also got the fun factor about right for what I was looking for.
    
    So I’ll try 3, but I suspect they’ve fucked up the formula somewhere in the last 20 years.

    Get Deserts of Kharak on the Epic Games Store if you wanna see how the (I think current) devs are handling the formula. It's free until the 31st. Its a prequel about reclaiming the hyperspace core from the downed ship on Kharak. Giant mechanical crawlers instead of spaceships, but I've heard good things about it.

    okay whoopie, calm your tits. if you want to play video games, you're gonna wanna dualboot windows. just no two ways about it, mac/linux support in gaming has gotten better over the years, but it's never been anything other than spotty.
