Just lost a bunch of money ):
With the virus and the market meltdown, I'm down a bit. My crypto worth was slashed in half, metals dropped, 401k down, stocks down. People are really not going to like me now. I do happen to be quite liquid though.
Should I open an investment account through a private broker?
I was thinking about dropping $10k into a local broker that's been around for over 70 years. It would be most of my savings but only a third of my cash accounts.
What do all of my NIS financial advisors think?
I'm going to hold off until next year due to this virus.

Election Year
Are exciting about election year! I am!
I'm not political at all. I'm more in the middle range when it comes to politics. I don't even vote. But I love election year! All of the protest, driving slow to piss people off, losing extra weight and trimming up to anger people, the riots after the election, videos of people fighting on the net, and all those bumper stickers!
It's my time to take it easy and just watch everyone else implode/explode.
I'm not sure how it's done.
There is apparently a way to attack EMV. I believe it works like this...
A skimmer is place in/on the ATM. The customer inserts their card, types in their PIN, and selects the amount they wish to withdrawal. The skimmer only collects this information but allows it to go through as usual. The skimmer also has a fake bank setup on it and replicates another transaction with a future date, time, withdrawal of a specific amount, and collects the information needed to transact with the real bank. The attacker later shows up at the specific time in the future and uses that data to withdrawal the specific amount.
This would be risky if a criminal was buying this info. They would have to show up at a specific time and I believe at a specific ATM to cash out. So if they bought it from Fred, it'd be an easy bust.
I've never been outside of this country. I'd like to go on a vacation somewhere since I've been working a lot the last couple of years and have a good amount of money saved up. I was thinking of going to Thailand for the beaches and nightlife but was also thinking about just maybe going to Grand Cayman Islands. I'll likely also go to Vegas for a short vacation and go to Seattle a few times on three day weekends.
I'll be doing this alone as well.
As far as traveling goes, what is needed? Obviously I'll need to get a passport, but is there anything else? How much will a passport cost and how does the whole process work? Will the passport be valid for a specific time period?
What would you suggest?

Doing away with my desktop
Done.
So it seems like everyone(except old lady's and gamers) are out of the desk thing and using racks. My room now smells of particle board from the wood on the racks and it reminds me on a desk I bought back when I was 18(Totse times).
I got a router and will begin working on setting everything up this weekend but I'm really waiting until April when I upgrade my distro on everything. I neglected programming and technical hobbies for the last couple of years due to working a lot but I plan on jumping back in this year.
Once I sell some of my items and get rid of my old desk, I'm going to have a big space in my bedroom...

Doing away with my desktop
For 2020 I'm planning on getting rid of my desk(which is really old) in my room and moving my desktop PC, printer, monitor, and other items on my current desk, to a tall industrial rack that I'm getting for a smaller area in my room. If I need to use my desktop PC(which I rarely have been lately. Only used it about four times last year), then I can just stand while using it. I'm not sure what I'll place in the place where my current desk is.
I can do everything on my laptops and I really don't need a desktop PC anymore. Has anyone else consider doing this, or even done this?
Strange too, my spam enhancement didn't detect it. I wonder if someone I ordered from somehow got my email address and sold it.
It was a link to a legit looking Amazon site in which I gave all false(but real looking info).
Looks like they must delete the page and redirect to Amazon after the info is submitted.
