The best pistol for close combat is what you can shoot most accurately with, that makes the attacker leak enough angry juice to stop being angry. Also depends on whether this is something you need to carry regularly or a car gun, etc. Most pistols are actually genuinely underpowered for making a determined attacker stop quickly. Any reputable brand of semiauto north of 9mm and in a > 4ā barrel works.
Shotgun is ideal.Rifle is better than pistol and are all going to be roughly as effective with similar loads. A lever action .44 mag with soft tips would be very effective and not particularly scary looking. In FL you can probably get a surplus SKS for not too pricey. -

Im friendly. So much of our lives is coercion and manipulation that it wouldnt feel like much of a stretch to do. I just feel a bit protective of desperate people i guess.
