Arnold on the other hand is a cool ass chill kid who everyone loves. He is an empathetic and caring little dude in a city that doesn't give a fuck. In the stoop kid episode he reached out to a neighborhood bully who everyone was afraid of, and helped him overcome his fear of leaving the stoop. -

The jazz track is obviously a big part of it, but the writing is what makes it shine. Hits you in the feels.
In one episode Arnold goes on a field trip to the zoo to see some supposed big bad turtle that the other kids in his class say can kill a squid. They get there and see the turtle, which is actually just some sad old thing. It has graffiti on it's shell, and all of Arnold's classmates start making fun of it and laughing at it. One of them throws a slushie on his shell, and the turtle just retreats into the water.
Arnold goes down to the tank part to see the turtle and says "Hey man" and touches it's flipper through the glass. Nothing else is said.
Arnold goes home, unable to stop thinking about this turtle. He tells his grandma about it and she decides to go rescue the turtle, but she's obviously fucking insane. "Grandma do you have a driver's license?" *cackles*
They break into the zoo at night to rescue the turtle. The night watch is feeding cookies to a penguin who is throwing up cookies and making jokes about it tossing its cookies.
When they go to release the turtle, they throw it off the dock to the ocean. The area around the dock is shallow and full of garbage. For a minute the turtle just sits there in the filth, looking sad. They give it motivation and it swims off, but not before looking back at it's one and only friend in the world, Arnold.
Before the credits roll, Arnold's grandma says she's in the mood for turtle soup, and Arnold returns to his depressed face. Literally nobody else around him gives an actual fuck about this turtle. His grandma was manic and only wanted to save the turtle once Arnold said it was old, because obviously she's old. That's the only part she seemed to sympathize with.
I mean damn it's got so much more feels than the wacky wild style shows have now. Arnold was such a chill dude. Just look at how they were able to cover topics like war:
