Mine isn't up until the 1st of October yet I hope to be long gone by then.
Any suggestions that are NOT stupid?

I'm not going to be taking all my worldly processions with me when I move which means a lot is either going to be sold, given away or thrown out.
It's going to be a friggin headache and I'm sure at some point I'll say "man, I wish I didn't get rid of/pack that up already.
Every time I moved in the recent past it seems like it took a solid week of prep, followed by a week of actually moving and then another week of unpacking.
My goal is to slowly move little by little this time am hopefully make it a smooth transition.
Also, I got to talk to my landlady about getting out of my lease some how.

At some point as I move more stuff over to my girlfriend's house I will be bringing my cats and she has 2 dogs.
Does anyone have any experience introducing these species to one another?
I'm not only worried about how they will all react but also about trying to keep my cats from sneaking out the door when the dogs go potty.

Update: This plan isn't totally off the table but how I had originally hoped to do it is out of the window.
Over the weekend I did get a desk, computer, and a couple chairs down into her basement.
I forgot to take pictures of where I ended up moving them down there after realizing that under a bunch of copper water lines was a bad idea.
Luckily I did find another outlet to plug stuff in at and even another light socket although the pull string is broken.
There is so much to do down there to get everything set up right and the area cleaned up but I plan to tackle it a little bit every week and hopefully in the near future all the trash will be gone and I've been looking around for scrap carpet to just throw on the floor as a temporary solution as the office is hopefully only temporary.
I don't mind concrete walls but I never liked concrete floors.

I recently acquired a coffee bean grinder in a feeble attempt to feel more classy only to realize it is a huge fucking waste of my time grinding these damn little beans when I can buy stuff pre-ground.
In an effort to not to be defeated I did buy some pre-ground coffee but only because it was SUCH A GOOD DEAL yet it just isn't the same.
Yesterday I even went and got k-cups of some girly shit thinking it was okay because it is fancy but it too tasted like hot piss.
This shit I am drinking now tastes more like a tea than a coffee.

I want some Folgers in my cup.

Real slow start to my day.
Might go shovel some snow in a few minutes.
Got nothing to do except chill until work.
Planning on making my way home here in a couple hours so I have plenty of time to get ready for the week.

I found another outlet in my girlfriend's basement nearer to the wall I was trying to originally set up my office against.
Still need to test the outlet and clean it up before I slide my shit to that corner but it seems like a much better spot to put my electronics versus underneath a bunch of copper water lines in a 113 year old house.

    Wish me luck.
    Hopefully I don't spend more than $600.

Been on 10 hour days at work all week and it is really limiting my time to get anything done at home.
The money is nice and I don't mind the extra work but I sure didn't prepare myself properly to work so much this week.
When I got to work yesterday I was informed I should prepare myself to work Saturday too but by the end of the night it was looking less likely that will be the case.
Before I went to work yesterday I went to a job interview at a new company (a big one) that pays a little better and has better benefits.
The pay itself isn't enough to convince me to jump ship but the extra benefits help.
I should hear something back by the end of this week or early next week and I am excited to try something new.
In the mean time I am going to keep looking elsewhere for better opportunities so that I can continue to improve my life and better myself.

If I get the whole weekend off my plans are to start moving some stuff over to my girlfriend's house so I can be there more and help her out through out the week and not be just a weekend boyfriend.
We are both excited at the prospect of spending more time together.

Until I get a bill for the Lancer and have my rent paid for next month my money is tight.
I am doing okay financially so long as I continue to be responsible with my spending.
Short term goal is to get rid of 1 if not both cars, get some cash and set myself up with something a bit more dependable and newer to drive. It might take a while but with some patience I'm sure I can find a good deal somewhere.

Anyways, I have to start getting ready for work.

Took the Lancer to a mechanic today.
I'm working too many hours to have any free time to fuck with it.
Hopefully it doesn't cost more than a couple hundred bucks to fix.

    This plan is terminated.
After looking around her basement again the other day I have determined that the current positioning of the furnace, water heater and some pipes would make it very difficult to turn her basement into a semi-finished living space.
I'm still going to throw a desk and computer down there but other than maybe laying down a rug to cover the floor, I'm just not interested in doing much with it.

Fault code: P1235 Mass Airflow Sensor

Going to try just cleaning it off along with the throttle body.

Might have more codes but I'm out of time today.

The trade in value was between $750-1500
I was just betting I could get $3k because of the market right now.
But private party value has it between $2600-4100

Now I don't feel so bad if I put a little more into it and try asking $3500.

Got to do this title transfer.
I despise the BMV as they never seem to make anything easy.

It is a 2010 Lancer base model.
    When I KBB it I get like $2.5k - $4k

Also I just realized while double checking this that all my decisions over the past week have been made on trade in values and not private party sales...

I have the base model (DE) which is fine given the 217k miles it has.
    Less parts = less problems.
Base model gets the best gas mileage too.

I'm not terrible worried about pissing on the floor in this case.

Anyways, I was thinking of looking into interlocking rubber tiles sort of like this,

They look easy to put down and are child safe which I guess doesn't matter on account of the kid is just going to eventually slam into the concrete walls and hurt herself that way but at least she could jump around and not get her feet dirty.

I'm not sure how easy these interlocking tiles are to clean though but I do hear you don't have to put down any matting under the floor or do any prep work beyond sweeping.
Also Im not sure how well they will stay in place and I'm not trying to glue anything either.

Other options I've looked into have been vinyl plank like this,

But I'm not really trying to level the floor and I'm sure as fuck not trying to put down plywood first as that immediately makes this project too costly.

I have had good luck and bad luck with self adhesive tiles in the past. Most of the time if used anywhere besides a bathroom they seem to stick pretty decent but the second you piss on them they come up.

I guess there is always the carpet option but Im not a huge fan of that due to stains and animals will just tear it to shit.

Beyond the flooring, the walls are concrete and the most I care to do with them is maybe just hit them with paint and leave them concrete as paneling looks like crap period.

The ceiling I wasn't going to touch as Im more of a functionality guy and having everything exposed just makes my life easier when something needs fixed.

It would be nice if I could find a way to get her washer and dryer down stairs to free her up space upstairs.

Maybe throw a shit couch in the basement and a tv.
My office will take up a decent bit of it but it would still be nice to have a spot to sit down and watch television.
This project will also probably give me room to set up the foosball table.

It by no means will add much value to her house so I'm not trying to go out of my way here.

The real value that it will add is by freeing up more upstairs space for when she decides to redo her kitchen and maybe open the walls up some. A license contractor will have to do a lot of that though.

She has a vision and Id rather just move to a nicer house but in the mean time I might as well make myself comfortable and see if I can enable her vision a bit while not getting too carried away.

My hope is in 3-4 years at most we would be living somewhere else.

I really don't want that horrible experience of having my life or hers doxxed and I am sure several of you are already capable of doing that to me now.

It was such a good plan but fate had other ideas.
Told my buddy about a house that was cheap and we were going to flip it.
Unfortunately it took way too long to gain possession of and literally the very next day work at my job picked up again leaving me very little time to help him.
He was also too busy to do much other than a little here and a little there while sub-contracting out other parts.
I told him last week that it wasn't looking good on my end and I was unsure if I was going to be able to get much more done and if so when.
Thankfully he had multiples offers on it as it was and managed to close on it today.
He said he made a profit anyways and Im sure he did.
I have no doubt he easily made $20-30k in the month that we fucked around not accomplishing anything.
Anyways he hit me up to ask me how many hours I worked there and I told him I wasn't even interested in getting paid as it didn't go as planned and wasn't finished.
Sure, he made a decent profit but that easily could have not happened too had anything stupid happened in the world.
    Big risk/big reward (this time).
Honestly if it wasn't for him getting such a deal buying the place he probably wouldn't have made much money if we hadn't finished like we didn't...
He said to stop by tomorrow after double checking my tools were out of there and get paid.
After the 22.5 hours I barley managed to put in on that job I really don't even care.
I feel like more of a piece of shit not seeing it through just out of principle than anything.
At $20 an hour that's $450 I made then after factoring in gas and junk food I probably will walk away with $400ish.
Originally I expected to see a couple thousand dollars on that job easy but work picked up and there were just not enough hours in the day.
I do feel good about being out of that contract now and not having that feeling of guilt whenever I'm not making an effort to get over there and work.

I doubt there will be another house to flip in the near future. He doesn't have time and neither do I.
Maybe some other side jobs will come up down the road but I am trying to get back to just getting by on 40 hours a week and having time to myself to learn programming.

Now I only have my own stupid side projects to finish up and that to do list already feels like I'm chasing the dragon.

I am always going to want more. Whether it's money or fun or just time to sit and relax but in this case it is a know when to fold them type of scenario where he could have kept it going for longer in hopes we would complete it but a lot of extra work and stressing out might not have made much difference at the end of the day.

My guess is that if it was totally finished he could have probably made another $20k but it would have cost $10k and a couple more months.
Better to just be happy we made any money versus kicking ourselves for not going all the way and breaking our backs.
