Ok I see a valid point in there... When Lanny banned infinityshock for a century or millenium or whatever, he had to make a judgment call. There is no way to codify an exact procedure for dealing with EVERY. POSSIBLE. OUTCOME. when it comes to moderating an Internet forum.
YOU (and others) might disagree with the way he made his judgment call.
But, keeping with the real-world analogy... If some asshole was beaking off on your sidewalk for DAYS, maybe even WEEKS or MONTHS... Heck, let's say it's not even you, but someone else who matters to you... they come complaining to you about some asshole TECHNICALLY ABIDING THE LAW, but "harassing" them all the same... There would come a point where, if the law failed to respond (because maybe they simply can't find a way to deal with the situation legally - i.e. the asshole found a loophole), you would consider approaching things in a different way, or you would be trying to find your own "reverse-loophole", for lack of a better term.
Lanny is not responsible for establishing the rules of an entire society in all their complexity. He has to define some fundamental guiding principles, and then make judgment calls within certain fringe cases, and infinityshock is definitely one of those fringe cases.
Governing an Internet forum is not exactly on the same level of governing, say, a country, but apparently, as infinityshock has demonstrated, it will sometimes result in some complex requirements.
The only alternatives are:
1. Turn this place into a democracy (and I have a strong feeling that more people would favor Finny's ban than those that wouldn't - AND, even worse, if this becomes a full on democracy, then if 51% of people decide that X constitutes hate speech, then X is banned. THAT is a slippery fucking slope man.
2. We defer judgment to Lanny.
3. We create an alternative site. I see absolutely no reason to do this, personally, but it's a free country and ANYONE out there can do the same. -

Okay, if you want the straight up honest truth, I just find him plain old obnoxious - BUT, not only that, it reaches a level that... it's like they need a new word for something even more obnoxious than obnoxious.
It gets to the point that I favor a by-the-books-approach that RESULTS IN finny being banned over a by-the-books-approach that DOES NOT.
I do care about freedom of speech.
But freedom of speech DOES NOT encompass LITERALLY EVERYTHING.
If some ass hat set up camp on the sidewalk outside your domicile (sidewalk == public property), and just yelled shit all day outside your house that was annoying to you, or even personally targeted/offensive... if you're telling me that you wouldn't, eventually, want to get rid of that asshole, you are STRAIGHT UP LYING.
That's what finny is doing. That's what finny has been doing since BEFORE HIS BAN. -

Funny you should mention that...
I have a project in the works right now that is basically a set of AI "chatbots" (the term can apply to Internet forums as well) that are trained using actual posts from frequent posters... And finny is among them.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I don't much like Finny posts for the most part... ESPECIALLY as of late. But he was at least somewhat unique and entertaining at one time.
The sad fact, though, is that because all of his posts now are IDENTICAL, if I feed them into the mix, it will basically just result in a bot that says the exact same thing over and over again, and, I really can't see how that could be anything but incredibly boring. -

It's probably better to wrap THE WHOLE THING in a conditional that first checks that you're even on NiS.
There's no point in having your browser search, well, anything, if you aren't on NiS (since the script's logic is based on how NiS is represented in terms of HTML and so on).

I'm personally not bothered enough by the word enhancements to do that though, but it's a thought that occurred to me.
Also, one could make their own word enhancements, but that would probably get boring if you're the only one seeing them...

Yeah I had heard of GreaseMonkey but never actually played around with it (until today). It turns out it's just like appending your own <script></script> block at the end of the document for every page that renders.
And yeah I have worked with Node before. Python (Flask for web frameworks) like infinitely more, but I have worked with Node. -

One poster in over 2 decades. I always thought blocking other users was for pussies, but there comes a point where it's just plain practical.
So, without further ado, I introduce you all to the first iteration of my script:

Now, there might very well be others out there, even specifically for NiS... No idea. But what this one currently does, is it basically just blocks posts from every user that has registered as of ~yesterday.
I'll probably tweak it to be more versatile over time, but for now, it's sufficient.
I would also add a search for "infinityshock", but, I imagine that would be pretty quickly overcome.
Also, this is clearly meant to be a temporary plugin, because it essentially "closes registration", in effect.
But it might be helpful for some of you right now.
If you don't use Firefox, I'm pretty sure there's an equivalent addon for Chrome and other browsers. -

There are so many examples of people being allowed to express "anti-Lanny" opinions that I really shouldn't have to dig any up as a demonstration... It's pretty self-evident.
So why is infinityshock literally the only example of Lanny allegedly being biased and banning someone he simply doesn't like? -
