I'm not really sure what position you're attempting to assign me in this discussion. Good things can come from bad places but the bad places probably aren't the best places to look, as a rule.
I don't assign positions.
Or, at least, I try not to.
I just think this all started because of the assumed source for Qhost's post.
He (or she, I suppose... I don't know Qhost from Adam), simply stated that an excess of freedom is a probable explanation for why most people lack meaning in their lives.
That particular sentiment, in and of itself, does not seem that unreasonable to me.
All politics aside, how does anyone ground such and ethereal concept as "meaning" into such a tangible thing as "experience"...? -

All the orange parts on that map used to be land.
That Berring strait...
I wonder if any ancient wandering nomads dropped like some gold or some shit on their way from Russia to Canada (sorry, Alaska/US... Would make way more sense being Canadian territory but whatever, I don't give a fuck, YOLO). -

That's the thing... He didn't introduce politics.
You did.
I'm starting to think you were just triggered by seeing Jordan Peterson's name merely being mentioned.
I'll toss you a life pro tip here...
Wisdom's source is irrelevant.
Hitler probably even at one point said that doing good deeds is a good thing.
Would knowing of such an exclamation make you opposed towards doing good deeds? -

"infinite freedoms and responsibilities" is a big blob of nothing. Doesn't mean a thing.
Most people have meaning in their life. Family, friends, a career they enjoy, a hobby, travelling, kids, grandkids, their car, their garden. Too many things to list really. Right-wing doomers in America want to propagate the idea that life is suffering to drag disenfranchised people into their hate-vortex.
There's so many things that give life meaning and Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro aren't top of most people's lists.
Who the fuck is Jordan Peterson?
I know who he is, but barely.
Anyway, he's irrelevant to the topic at hand.
And how the fuck did politics come into this?
You're weird.
Anyway, regarding the issue of grounding meaning in terms of universal elements, even people with families, kids, and super neato cool jobs. They all experience moments of nihilistic confusion.
And the very fact that one can experience such a thing is incontrovertible proof that "meaning" is entirely ephemeral. -

2020-08-22 at 2:06 AM UTC in hey star trekHonestly, I'm amazed that it's possible to embed live YouTube videos.
I'm actually not even fully over the fact that live YouTube videos are a thing in the first place.
The times, they are a changing. -
2020-08-22 at 1:56 AM UTC in Google giving far-right users' data to law enforcement, documents revealAt first, I was going to go off ranting about how free speech is only being more and more impinged upon (because that is true, the first amendment is currently under attack, and I am zealously opposed to that)...
On a now-deleted video on the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton by Canadian white nationalist, Stefan Molyneux (whose channel YouTube has now banned), the user wrote: “Hi guys, i need your help, i cant help but look at those shooters and think, that could be me. I watch Stefan, and black pilled and many others on the right. I think i should do the same thing they are doing.”
The user then went on to discuss methods of making explosive devices.
...but this asshole should be on a list.
Being "on a list" isn't being censored, or having their PI exposed.
It's just somebody who poses a legitimately potential risk being monitored a little bit when they're posting shit online.
I see zero issue with this, as long they are still afforded the same fundamental rights such as privacy (from public knowledge) and due process. -
2020-08-22 at 1:32 AM UTC in Lets compare Pakistanis and IndiansAll that being said, though, South Asia in general is a fascinating region with a tremendously rich history.
Many regions are absolutely devastated by poverty and over population.
I'd check the country out myself if the opportunity arose, but I'd probably stick to certain regions over others. -
2020-08-22 at 1:30 AM UTC in Lets compare Pakistanis and IndiansOne could also make the case that India was "invaded" by both Eurasian nomads a few millennia ago, as well as the British a couple centuries ago.
Admittedly, though, calling it an invasion is open to all kinds of interpretation. -

The Mughal invasion kinda negates both of those statements.
EDIT: Negates the second, but makes the first less unique. My OCD was bugging me when I reread what I initially said. Everyone in that region was getting invaded by Arabs at one point or another... At least when they weren't being invaded by Mongols or Europeans. -
2020-08-22 at 1:27 AM UTC in Lets compare Pakistanis and IndiansI actually grew up in an unusual environment where Indians (dot, not feather) were nearly the majority. In some neighborhoods, they legit outnumbered white households.
I'm pretty sure it's literally their most densely diaspora'd city.
Oddly enough, though, I have met very few Pakistanis in my life.
Growing up in the scenario that I did, I heard more racial slurs and stereotypes about Indians than I ever did for blacks (for instance).
In fact, it was very common to call all South Asian looking people "Paki", "turbans", "ragheads", or "Hindu" (this being especially ignorant since the vast majority are Sikh). -

You: As a matter of indisputable fact, YOU vote for a pedophile!
Opponent: As a matter of intergalactic factual phenomena, You, in fact, are the one who votes for pedophiles.
You: "No. That is entirely incorrect. I do not engage in such things, for I am not a pervert. You, sir, are, in fact, the pervert."
Opponent: "No, YOU are the REAL pervert.
