Here's one (although, trust me, I have plenty more) to get us started:
Last year, I bought a portable air conditioning unit for my apartment.
Instead of reading the manual all the way through, I just assumed that turning it "up" would mean "more coldness". I mean, when you want to adjust an electric fan so that it blows air more intensely, you turn it up. You also do the same with heaters, of course, and so on.
So, naturally, I dialed it all the way to the highest numerical setting.
I slept that evening on the floor next to it, trying to salvage what little coolness I could get, but it just felt so ineffective.
It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that I was turning the temperature up, not X coldness factor.

Okay, I've seen this Vermouth thing mentioned before...
How did it start?
Does Lanny really drink straight Vermouth with any regularity?
I've only ever used it to make martini's and similar cocktails.
ONCE, though, I actually drank Vermouth straight out of sheer desperation (ran out of money and only had that in the cupboard, and just had to get drunk). -

Yeah I'm kinda trying to budget myself for the coming week and am working with similar means at the moment.
Although minus the gas (no vehicle at all at the moment), make the 5 dollars like 20... 30 tops if I drain all my bank accounts and gather all my change together.
And swap the need for weed with a need for liquor.
Luckily I don't need to travel all that much this coming week because I am unemployed / on E.I. at the moment.
It's a hard knock life. -
