    Yeah I think this general concept of doing drugs "consequence-free" can be very differently interpreted...

    The downsides to doing drugs, whichever drugs one might prefer, are numerous in number and scattered in scope.

    There are potential legal repercussions as severe as death (well, at least for trafficking in some countries).

    Physical and mental health are also potentially greatly impacted by drug use, and these effects don't much care what country one is in.

    Then there are social/cultural effects, like being ostracized by your friends and family.

    And then, there are strictly pragmatic/practical concerns when it comes to addiction taking higher priority than day-to-day responsibilities; or even doing irresponsible or even illegal/immoral things as a result of severe inebriation.

    But then, if you could eliminate ALL of those potential downsides, there would be absolutely no reason not to use drugs...

    There's something almost disconcerting about that alone.

    Do you mean Portugal?

    Or are there two Hispanic/Latin nations starting with P that are known for having incredibly radical/progressive drug policies?

    I know that Portugal has seen incredible results all around after decriminalizing all drugs.

    More people seek treatment (due to reduced stigma, presumably); jails aren't as crowded; etc.

    It's a ~20 year old movie, but I'll wrap major plot points in spoiler tags in case this movie suddenly becomes a "classic oldie" (damn I feel old) due to it's contemporarily relevant subject matter...

    Also, did he really die the same exact day as the film was edited?

    I know he died shortly after the movie came out... I've heard that bit before.

    Come to think of it, though, in today's immediately current climate surrounding actual secret sex orgy societies for society's elite/rich/powerful, you might actually be on to something...

    But so was Jennifer Aniston.

    So many teenage fantasies resurfacing right now...

    Feel free to reach out if you require further assistance.

    Alternatively, you can put up an ad to hire a temporary day laborer, and have them pick up your monitor and rotate it by whatever degree you want, and then pull out your smart phone and take a picture at that angle.

    Then have sex with the day laborer because you paid them for the day and they only worked for like 10 minutes on your image rotation project.

    Woah, woah, woah, hold up, just hold up a second...

    Are we hating on the Nintendo 64 now?

    Politics and current events: I sleep.

    5th generation (and earlier) console gaming: Real shit.

    My last console I owned was an N64 (and a Sega Dreamcast as well, but mostly so I could play emulated games from prior consoles on burned CD's without having to do any warranty voiding hardware modifications like for PlayStation and so on).

    I logged so many damn hours on Mario 64, Goldeneye 007, and Diddy Kong Racing that I should be putting that shit on my resume.

    At first glance, this little diagram seems like a promising indicator that the two metabolic pathways are entirely distinct, BUT... The main biomarker used to detect ethanol use (Ethyl glucuronide) is actually not even on there, so I have no idea.

    Each metabolic process probably has multiple resulting metabolites, which of course complicates things.

    Why are you drinking isopropyl alcohol anyway?

    No hobo, but I did actually try a few swigs of it with some bums a few years ago.

    I just wanted to try it once for the sake of trying it. It can't be anywhere remotely good for you.

    Rose-tinted spectacles make me want to say the same will eventually happen between you two; but dem real eyes realize that things don't always turn out the way we'd like.

    I like each of you, but unfortunately can't do much to impact what either of you think of each other.

    def search_and_mark(self, text, start):
    end = self.textbuffer.get_end_iter()
    match = start.forward_search(text, 0, end)

    if match is not None:
    match_start, match_end = match
    self.textbuffer.apply_tag(self.tag_found, match_start, match_end)
    self.search_and_mark(text, match_end)

    For syntax highlighting, I would imagine that it would require real-time syntax parsing? I dunno for sure. I'm not particularly familiar with GTK, nor have I gone through all your code above with a fine-toothed comb yet, so maybe there is another possible approach, but right now the only method I can think of is real-time parsing of the entire string contained in the TextViewWindow.

    Parsing, while not super straightforward, is also not some arcane, out-of-reach mystery. I've played around (just a little bit) with some decent AST libraries for Python that allow you to define custom syntax.,. syntaxes? Is that the plural for syntax? Anyway, they allow you to define your own languages, or use pre-existing definitions. Obviously languages like C++, C#, Java, etc, have such definitions already out there, so you don't have to literally reverse engineer entire languages or anything like that. But, with a little bit of work and experimentation, you should be able to apply your own custom parsing capabilities in your IDE.

    Then you just need to decide how frequently to do this parsing (with each keystroke? at a certain regular time interval? etc) - a decision that will greatly impact performance.

    Then you will just need to apply the actual text modification (font-color, squiggly red underlines, whatever) using built-in GTK methods.
