But unless other countries started pulling their weight in a massive way- which they've often been reluctant to do- the US is going to be the fulcrum of international security for years to come. But introducing legislation that would create another 600 billion in annual spending may not be the way to go. I'd be one of the people that would benefit from something like that. It's be amazing to be able to enroll in law school next semester somewhere and not have to worry about the heavy financial burden. However, it also means that a lot of people will not be working full time anymore. It would likely mean less focus on trades. A lot of people who don't have the aptitude would end up in classrooms, and employers would likely raise educational requirements even further than they have currently.
It's a good idea in theory, there's just a lot of unforseeable consequences to even our most well intentioned ideas.
At the very least though, student loans should have a lower interest rate. We shouldn't be making money on people trying to get an education. Then again who am I to say that? I'm not an economist. Maybe the high interest rates are the only reason people pay off those debts at all. Idk. -

It should be common sense to realize that you can't, for instance- offer free college education to everyone that's interested- without enormous cost and unintended consequences. She's got roughly as much sense of what it takes, logistically, to put any of her plans into action as does one of those miss universe contestants whose "platform" is "Africa...and...literary...as well as?" -

Good. Uneventful. But that's how sobriety is I guess.
Yeah going down 4mg a week. Should be off in 4 months completely. Took my 6 month chip at a meeting a couple hours ago. I know it's not totally clean, and certain people there have really strong feelings about it. I was debating asking someone about it, but it really has zero to do with them so I'm not even going to open that can of worms. It's not squeaky clean, but it's light years away from being addicted to heroin. Half the time (like this weekend), I only take 1/3 of my normal dose, and for the most part I'm fine. Debts paid. Work full time. Gym 3x a week. Cutting out all negative influences. Trying to get back to school.
Should've hit me up when I was still using. I got 150mg bottle 4x a week and I was still getting high so I saved em all. Had 9 months worth of bottles put away. Someone with a background in grimy shit could've made a killing on that at the going rate of .50 cents/mg. But alas...I lost my bottles in a kayaking accident. Then I paid off my court fines. lol. -

I've injected less than 30 or 40 times my entire 13 years. For better or worse, the first time I tried, I blew out a vein in my hand. Second time, I went too deep into the crook of my arm, hit a nerve and then missed half the shot. With black tar, you really have to take the time to prep properly or buy other enhancements. I should've taken a picture of the chick at the clinic the other day that I used to hang with. Abcess almost the size of a tennis ball hanging off her arm, huge and red with a little gross whitehead at the top.
But yeah...unless it was something like coke that could be easily, safely muscled- I always equated the needle with pain and discomfort. I couldn't even brush the top of my hand with a blanket for a couple weeks after I blew the vein the first time. Towards the end, I had a customer who was a nurse who I'd have fix me when my lungs were too fucked from smoking, or when the stuff wasn't strong enough to get me well any other way. She could do the entire thing in a minute from start to finish, and she always had bags of clean rigs around, so you don't feel that pressure/pop you get when it's a needle that's been used 20 times before.
I always thought smoking/snorting was the smart, "harm reduction" way to do things, but in retrospect everyone I know who slammed has some scarring and DVT but is otherwise in okay shape. On the other hand my teeth are fucked, my lungs are ruined, my kidneys are dogshit. Lol. Jokes on me.
E: Not to mention the smoking/snorting high was always a lot more manageable for me.i never could've gone to work after slamming a quarter gram. The high doing it other ways it's not quite as deep, but it hangs around a long time. After year 5, I was doing so much dope all day that even after sleeping for 14 hours, I'd wake up still fully high. And convenience was also a big factor. When I want to get high I want it now. If I want to get high in the bathroom at work, I don't want to be fumbling around with a cooker and a tourniquet. -
