   Again, my thesis is that civilization is advanced by a small number of exceptional people who happen to have power. If a culture doesn't produce exceptional people, or fails to endow them with appropriate power, I'll argue it is unlikely to advance. Consider the infrastructure needed to produce meaningful advancement in the west. You don't get Plato without rich patrons, you don't get Wilkes without universities and you don't get democracy without someone who believes in it having comparable power to a monarch. We can fully explain differences in outcomes without ever posting a dependence on greater or lesser mean intelligence of populations.

   I mean, come on, have you ever had the experience of trying to have an intelligent conversation, explain certain concepts, to the average black person? The average white person is dumb as shit, but my god are most brown people far worse. The on average differences are immense and there's so much data to support this. It isn't simply due to a lack of giants by any means.

   
   Is there a difference between the mean intelligence of the two populations? The answer is yes for almost any pairing but that's not the relevant question. The question you're faced with is if that delta exists, is it large enough to explain differences in outcomes? I mean if every person with an IQ under 100 became 10 points smarter would that get us anywhere, on a civilizational level, any faster? The fact remains that our civilization is advanced by a small number of exceptional individuals. No number of slightly-better-than-average members of the general population are going to invent calculus or create a masterwork of art.
   
   Besides, I'm still not convinced there's any greater depth to the thought process of your typical westerner than your typical african. Even if americans can do significantly more arithmetic or logic puzzles or what have you, this establishes nothing about their relative ability to engage with more sophisticated concepts required for moral philosophy, as is the relevant quality here.

Newton talked about standing on the shoulders of giants, but even for all the giants the west has produced the vast majority of us stand exactly no taller than we are raised up. The same can be said of all peoples. If the proletariat fails to see farther it is not for a lack of stature but for a lack of giants.

    BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CAT? The guy sleeping or whatever he's doing, he doesn't even give a fuck, like he's not looking up trying to swat 'em away or making an angry or startled face or anything for that matter he's just in no fucks given mode, but that kitty cat down in the corner is all surprised like the owls just woke him/her awake from a nice dream and he doesn't even know what's going on, and the owls don't know that the man doesn't give a shit so they're gonna keep trying to bother him when in reality, it's not him that's being bothered but the cat, so I think WHAT IT ALL RELLEH MEENS MAN, is that there's three typa people on this planet- the owls (and bats I guess), the men, and the cats. The owl typa people are always trying to stir shit up and maybe even awaken people to the truths and all that, but they focus on the 'men' typa people who are just like, they just want to be left alone and not be bothered and they have mastered the art of apathy, so it's essentially futile just the owls coming at the men. I mean you have to respect their persistence I guess but at the end of the day it just doesn't do anything as far as what the owls are trying to accomplish goes anyway, but then you have the cats of the world that are down in the corner TRYING to sleep and just trying to do their own thing, but they unlike the men-people cannot just turn a blind eye to the truths that the owls are trying to bring, so even though they don't want to listen they are pretty much forced to because of their mental construction. Basically the cats want to not give a fuck but they end up absolutely giving a fuck insofar as the owls remain persistent, but ironically the owls aren't even trying to get the cat-people to care (I don't know why) but instead are focused on the men-people. I think the cat people slowly turn into owl-people without the owl-people even knowing, thus the owl flock grows larger and larger and maybe that's the point is that without knowing it, the persistence of the owls turns the cats into owls and they are so busy pecking at the men-people that they don't even notice their owl-herd is growing because of the cat-people's conversion and eventually, finally, just MAYBE, the owl-people's flock is large enough to awaken the men-people but at that point climate change will have us living in a Water World and it won't really matter anymore. :(

    I guess the moral of the story is stick to your guns on not giving a fuck or you'll become an annoying ass owl? Or is it that if you harass niggas enough you'll never convince them but might convince someone else you weren't really thinking about in the first place? I kinda like the second one more.

    How much did you take? IIRC the opioidergic effects weren't found to be significant up to a certain threshold, around 100 or 120mg or so, but that may have been based on tests done on rats with the dosage not properly converted, so I'm not sure.
    
    It prevents respiratory depression, you should try it again if you still have it, go for broke.

    
    It was a while ago so I don't really remember, not that much although I remember the effects being about the same as oral administration at the same dose. I would imagine the recreational effects wouldn't be any stronger when smoked if nothing else is. But again, this was sodium so it might be different for OP

    it was on the cover the textbook for this ethics course I took once. Was a good course, I think more people should take ethics or read about it, even if you don't buy into any part of academic moral philosophy it's hard to argue that between the academy and the church the market on coherent ethical discourse hasn't been cornered. Anyway, I always thought this was a great cover. Like the obvious interpretation is like "be careful young blood, if you don't check yo six now and then you gonna get got" where "get got" means do something atrocious. But I think it's a good metaphor for the practice of ethics in general, the etching kinda captures what it feels like to engage with foundational issues in ethics. You're the nigga sitting there being like "shut the fuck up, I just wanna eat, drink, get my dick wet and die" but then you or some part of you or something be all like "no no no motherfucker, yall niggas don't get off that easily". Them owls be like "there be an existential issue here and ima peck on yo sleepy ass til you do something bout it". We educate our youth with these tools like logic and harass them into reading the classics and such and then dump them into a society where it's like "yeah, fuck that" and you spend your whole life jamming with yo otha niggas but these fucking owl cunts be like "dis some shameful shit right here son" and man it fucking blows.
    
    It's also a metaphor for dissociatives.     Sober 98 days :^) Half-considering taking a few rolls at a rave this Saturday. I think I'll pass considering I'm off probation next month and don't want to fuck it up when I'm 90% done with it. Need to celebrate when I'm finally off though. Probably try to find some coke and get on it with some old friends I've been avoiding in my quest for sobriety.

I've only known one guy who was really fucking up his life with drugs and got sober but he basically cut contact with everyone he used to know and won't have a glass of wine with dinner and stuff like that. How common is it for people with a dependency to get sober and then go back to like light or moderate use? In the movies and stuff it's like as soon as someone drinks a beer they end up in a crackhouse selling their firstborn within the hour or something like that which seems a bit far fetched. But then some people seem to take it seriously so IDK

    Working on a programming language, a lisp, may have posted about it before. It's implemented in javascript and is supposed to have very strong interop, the main focus is to give a better literal syntax for DOM manipulation and semantics for passive DOM state assertion/guarantees (I can go into more detail about this but it might be tedious without the context of making front-end systems at some scale). At the moment it's implemented as an interpreter and requires the full compilation pipeline to be loaded client-side to run. I've implemented a few of the special forms in a compiler as a proof of concept but I don't think I'll ever have time to bring the compiler up to feature parity with the interpreter and there are some language features (destructuring comes to mind, but even the module system poses problems) that I'm not sure how I would implement in a compiler (the compiler is very literal at the moment).
    
    The other project I'm working on is a computer implementation of the board game Yinch. Right now I'm just working through the logic of enforcing the rules and such but I'm working hard to decouple the presentation/input logic from the game logic because I want to make a fancy WebGL interface after I finish the rules and the super basic 2d presentation layer I have going now.

    I tried smoking the sodium form or whatever, not a significant difference from taking it orally for me. LLL, famous for shooting the stuff and calling it better than heroin, says smoking it was similar to shooting it so IDK. I could have just undershot on the dosage or something. Didn't particularly fuck my lungs up but you can definitely taste it.
