Marxism does call for collectivization but the famine station is the result a particular collectivization strategy (murder/imprison those who hold the means of production, replace with the untrained but politically pliant). Many, probably most, Marxists wouldn't condone Stalin's actions here either, preferring more gradual collectivization strategies. A stable worker state can leave a capitalistic industry intact and gradually "purchase" it out or otherwise take a scheduled approach of transferring the means of production to the collective domain.
Anyway, point is, learn the difference between Stalin and Marx.
