They don't get paid enough to care. I used to poke holes in people's meat packaging when I bagged groceries by slamming it into this little metal sprong that stuck up from the bagging area. Only to assholes though, and you had to be a real massive one at that. I'd get one finger covered in meat juice and use it to cover their other groceries (keeping it away from touching anything else) then go wash my hands really quick. It's petty, but it might make them sick.
