Open Roth, put at least 10-15k in Vanguard S&P 500 ETF in a ROTH and then you can play with individual stocks, but be careful because just because you like a stock does not mean it is a good time to buy, as it could be overvalued or have negative sentiment or too high expectations on it.
Don't go too heavy in metals unless you smell impending doom all over. Land or real estate is not a bad idea either, especially stuff you can rent (not housing preferably, renting to people can be horrible with time and shitty people).

2019-09-23 at 3:16 AM UTC in Would anyone like to help with a strange project?I'd like a BASH script that continuously scans for WIFI networks and connects to the target network unless a specific on is available(this one I could run from my phone if I need to go the the area and do any maintenance). It also needs to spoof the MAC every 24 hours and reconnect.
I think a rPi Zero W running Raspbian Lite would be a good start. I'm planning on using the USB port for a usb wifi adapter to be used as the primary connection.
Each one of these can be different though. We could even do a small camera on one...
I'm concerned that the power may go out or the device may be unplugged and it could corrupt the OS. It'll automatically boot once it receives power but if it's corrupt I'd have to try to get the room again to retrieve the device. Is there anyway to lessen the chance of corrupting the OS during a sudden power outage? -

Well of course. It'd be a team effort, so we'd all get access.
The hotels bandwidth could be used for automated task, the hotels IP address could also be used(which likely wouldn't be banned from most services).
It's a strange project indeed. But I just want to do it for fun. Like I said though, I stay in hotels regularly, even tonight and likely next weekend. I could do it on my own but I thought it be interesting to bring some people along for the ride. -

At the end of this year, I'm planning on starting a 401k and dumping 14% of my income with a 6% match from my employer, so 20% in total. Starting next year, I'm going to start a brokage account with stocks and bonds.
This way Ill have cash, stocks, bonds, cryptos, precious metals, and a retirement account. I'm not sure what else to do aside from possibly buying land and farming it.
I just want to be on track for retirement by age 40.
Edit: strange how a couple of years ago I was working in retail and only had about $3k in a checking account and about $6k in precious metals, no other accounts or investments. I also have a bunch of new stuff and have been going out way more... -

A large fraction is in crypto-currencies.

On the good side, I have no debt, good health, and a job.

2019-09-09 at 9:58 PM UTC in Would anyone like to help with a strange project?We would be setting up a bunch of servers on TOR using rPis that I hide inside of electrical appliances at hotels I stay at. They'd use the hotels WIFI and we would SSH in using TOR.
From there, who knows? But we could use the hotels bandwidth, use the hotels IP address, host servers/irc on TOR, see who else is using the network, etc.
I wouldn't mind buying some rPis and necessary parts to get started.
