Depends on the state. I can buy a .50 BMG rifle for deer hunting. Californians can't. Both countries require a criminal background check. In the US you seem to have to do this every time you wish to purchase a rifle and ammo. In Canada, you do this once, get a license, and that's it. The license serves no other purpose than a criminal background check and reference check. There's no doctors involved or mental health certification. That is confidential information between you and your doctor and cannot be divulged to authorities. If you're allowed a gun in Canada, you're allowed a gun in the US. And vice versa. We have the same requirements for ownership. -

Boo hoo, I called an M16 for an AR-15 by mistake. My bad, AR-15s are semi only.
You know exactly what I meant. The AR-15 is a hunting rifle adaption of a military rifle. And this makes me wrong.
Doesn't change the fact that US military adopted the Mk 14 EBR in 2002 because the M4/M16s were insufficient for the designated marksman role. -

Sorry, yes seems so. Stricter laws were enacted in 1991 which meant fully automatic firearms had to be restricted to a gun club. Which the police would have to authorize you for. They no longer give out these authorizations, meaning all grandfathered fully automatic firearms are now safe queens. Prior to 91 you could seemingly hunt with your full auto AK47. If you acquired this AK47 before 77. -

Originally posted by Fox It’s a good thing I live in good ol ‘Murica and I’m allowed to stockpile an arsenal of modern weapons. What are you gonna do with your double barrel shotgun in canadia, loser
Many legal guns in Canada are banned in the USA. Not even allowed to bring them for shooting competitions. Whoop de doo. Tonnes of people in Canada have fully automatic firearms which have been grandfathered from the 90s gun laws as well. I can also order a gun straight to my door. I can walk into a gun store and out with 5 guns and 10 crates of ammo, just flash my license. There is no limit to how many guns you can own in Canada either. Also with your regular PAL, you can legally buy a 17 pounder AT gun or a howitzer. The difference to the US, in the US you're allowed to stockpile for self defence. In Canada, stock piles must be for personal collections.
US background check system is stupid and expensive. You should just have a license which doubles as your background check. That's all the Canadian gun license is. Can also use the Canadian gun license to prove to employers that your criminal record is clean.
With that said, potential new firearms laws in Canada may ban many, if not all, semi automatics. Seems the US is under this threat too. Canada has more of less the same gun culture as the USA, it has been a necessity for the development of our nation.
Look at how we only are allowed double barrel shotguns here,

Fact is America should have no jurisdiction of what American citizens do outside of it's own border. You wanna come to Canada and smoke weed? You've committed no crime. You wanna visit Tehran? Who's to tell you not to?
Then there's international law and the law of the country you're visiting, which should be respected. No US citizen should be held to US law when they're outside the US. Else us in Canada might as well deny selling our weed to tourists. -

Originally posted by Fox I’ve heard the main concern is massive crop failures due to droughts and shit. It’s not like we’re all gonna burn to death in the sun, it’s that we’re not gonna be able to grow enough to feed all the animals we eat. Or, you know, even if we cut out the middleman and all become vegans for efficiency’s sake it still won’t be enough food. That’s what’s gonna kill people, starvation & mass panic.
When it happens I’ll just become a bandit and kill people to loot their shit
Not an issue. In Canada for example, we have a population of 35 million. It is estimated that with our current climate, if all river sheds and current farming land was utilized, the country and it's land could support a population of a billion people.
If temperatures raise much more, Canada's farm lands could likely support 2 billion people. Siberia would be the same.
We simply need a demographics shift if shit hits the fan. Anybody in northern countries is bound to benefit. Buy that remote farming land on the cheap while you can. -

2020-02-22 at 6:05 PM UTC in Hey cannucks what do you think about the rail protesters?
"This is not a new resistance," said McAdam, one of the founders of Idle No More, a movement born in 2012 in response to parliamentary bills that threatened Indigenous sovereignty and environmental protections.
What false sense of sovereignty do these tribes have? They tried to open a dispensary on a native res not far from my house. They got shut down shortly by provincial authorities. So basically it goes Feds > Province > Tribe. When they're selling drugs, it doesn't take them long. But blocking Canada's economy, that's their God given right. In no way can the first nations claim to be sovereign unless they shoot at any authorities entering their land.
So why the hell can't the pipeline go through? Reconciliation my ass. What they want is more money, a buyout. They want their UBI for tribe members to be 2000$ a month instead of 1500$ a month. -
2020-02-22 at 5:50 PM UTC in Will property prices ever come down?Look to Norwegian history. A common surname is 'abandoned farm', or 'ødegaard'. This stems from the black plague when 1/3 - 1/2 of the population perished. Prior to the plague, farmers would cram workers into small dwellings. After the plague, people took on their own farms and became economically self-reliant.
Corona virus couldn't be a bigger win for Trump and the anti-immigration crowd. It shows the fault with relying on a third country for mass amounts of products. Companies in USA are considering heavily if they shouldn't ditch China all together with the pressure coming from every direction. Get rid of the Asian immigration and San Fran and Vancouver will become affordable to the white man again. -

Brisco County Jr, western-scifi. Unfortunately only got made one season, but has 23 episodes.

And a somewhat obscure film, but among my favorites. Running Time:

Originally posted by Speedy Parker I just laid out how it was inspired by two different weapons. Paul Mauser owned the patent on stripper clips and the type of extractor used on his bolts. Springfield infringed on those patents when they released the 03 Rifle. The Springfield isn’t a copy of the Mauser 98. The Springfield’s two piece firing pin is not Mauser like at all. It is a bolt action rifle that has a lot of similarities, but every bolt action rifle has similarities to the Mauser 98. Just like every semi automatic pistol has similarities to the Colt Model 1909 Automatic developed by John Browning for Colt.
Not true. Enfields don't share anything in common with mausers. Beyond the fact that they're bolt action. When they designed the Springfield, they had a mauser infront of them. They did not do that when they designed the enfield. Hence two different rifles.

m14. jesus christ.
Sorry, marksmen in Afghanistan use Mk 14 EBR rifles. Why? Because the AR15s are designed to be more of a replacement for a submachinegun than anything. The M14 was originally intended to replace the SMG, the carbine, the BAR, and the Garand. It failed to replace the SMG or the carbine, so they introduced the M16. The M16 failed to replace the BAR or the Garand, so they re-introduced the M14 as the Mk 14 EBR in 2002. Now they only have two weapons to fulfill all the roles that they needed four weapons to fill in WWII.
