Stocking up is one of the few ways people feel they can control this. Toilet paper is an essential to bidetless Americans and its a non perishable, big cheap item that they can feel secure in knowing they'll absolutely need in the future.

Schools are shutting down all over my area. I actually dont know anyone who still has college classes. Most are opening online lessons.
I go to the store and the tp and water is sold out or nearly sold out. Costco was insane last weekend and apparently they chose to take shipments of water and tp instead of produce. They had stacks of TP where the mangos usually are.
I'm also noticing less cars. Drove home at 6:30 yesterday and its usually super traffic packed. But traffic is noticibly lighter. This morning i went to work around 6am and it felt like when I go to work on Sunday. People are staying home.
I kinda wanna stock up just because I dont want to worry about having to find toilet paper. Bottled water I don't give a fuck about. They're not gonna shut off the water or anything. I'll be fine with tap.
If they did shut it off we'd probably have already collapsed as a society and a few cases of water probably wont do much to save your life at that point.
Either way this shit is getting weird. The world has literally never gone through such a thing in the modern age. We've made movies, games, and wrote books about quarantines happening, but to have it happen in real life is so apocalyptic.
Anyone else noticing changes in their area? I wonder if its any easier to get tp in republican states or if they are equally as freaked out despite Trumps assurances its nothing to worry about -

Yep absolutely. It has a lot more low blood pressure and respiratory depression than singular opiates thanks to some of the alkaloids. Probably why i had circulation issues.

Yeah I learned a lot of Chinese that way. It's kinda cool. But i still think its a bad way to get an idea for what people generally think. Its like a Russian using 4chan or reddit. Its all very polarized online. You gotta talk to real people and live in a place to really know i think. -

Its morphine, codeine, and like 51 other alkaloids. Very strong stuff. People think because its legal its weak but it is literally liquid opium. I mean that's what opium is, the sticky stuff on the outside of poppy seeds. But they collect the sap rather than use dried food grade seeds with legally required low morphine content. Personally im okay with people like Suzie getting help. In an ideal society, or say, 1950s USA, the corporations would be footing most of that bill anyway. They've done REALLY well over the last 70yrs lowering their taxes. This is why America is a great place to do business. Our taxes are next to nothing. We have many of the richest people in the world because of it. Most valuable economy of any nation.
I dont get why the right here thinks lower taxes will help the economy. Free capitalism is not the way to go.
And dont even remind me of the CEO loophole that allows corporations to funnel money into lower tax brackets while simultaneously giving them more money. This is why companies like Amazon can pay zero tax. They just put everything into Bezos's check and company expansion.
This policy does work GREAT for small businesses who genuinely have high overhead when starting out but for big corps its easily abused. I dont think we should tax gross income obviously and I dont know what the solution would be but this is not right. It is so easy to avoid taxes in this country if you are rich. You can just invest and invest and become richer and richer. We don't have brackets for the crazy rich corps like europe does. I believe the cutoff is a few mil or something snd thats got the 26% bracket lowered from 35% by trump
