Fuck I miss the good ol' days. I weep.

Also, Anal Turing has to be one of the cleverest usernames I've ever seen.

I hope it's out of respect for the guy, because, gay or not, he was a brilliant and historically impactful motherfucker,

C# is for masochists. Do Python all the way.

And dude, if you really need food that bad, have you considered shoplifting?

I'm not some kind of crime proponent, but quite frankly, if you are truly starving, shoplifting isn't that unreasonable.

In a perfect society, the methylated amphetamines would be a government-provided resource. Same with all drugs. I rarely get political but damnit it I don't take a stand when it comes to drug policy. It costs pennies to buy sugar by the kilogram, yet cocaine cost damn near a bill for a single gram. They both come from plants. Drugs should be considered a basic need.

Everyone here says learn python but my eyes glaze over after about 5 minutes if I don't have some way to tie it into a game project or something

Python is the shit. Fuck, I want to take you on as an apprentice. Trust me, Python is fucking awesome if you put in a bit of effort to get through the initial "WTF is this shit?" phase. If you want to make games, that should motivate you through the hard parts.

Seriously, learn Python. It's the easiest language to learn, and yet it is so fucking powerful. It's Turing complete, which means you can do anything in Python that you can in, say, C or C++ (the nerd languages). You don't need to be a square to be a programmer. It can be fun and rewarding in it's own right.

I realize that this thread was initially started about getting meth, and I have enough experience with drugs to know that, once you've got that need in your mind, everything that isn't a parcel full of drugs in your mailbox is an utter disappointment. But I'm not kidding when I proselytize programming as a career choice. A few years (months if you're precocious enough) from now, you will look back on this and say "damn, that nigga dropped some wisdom on NIS."

    Well TIL.

Totse is the real grandfather here though. The CSS styling is perfectly replicated (shout outs to Lanny on that).

Basically, you need to put yourself out there. If you actually already have coding skills, just network until you land a job.

Note that nowhere do I claim this is easy or guaranteed in any way. I don't want to build up any false expectations.

But it is possible. I can personally attest to that fact.

    You poor soul.

If I didn't need my bitcoin to buy drugs myself, I'd throw you some.

I'll give you some advice though, although it in all likelihood it won't comfort you right now... Teach yourself computer programming. I used to be a full-fledged bum, but I now make money and work from home and can get high all day. It's dope shit. It'll take a few years and a lot of dedication, but well worth it.

High-functioning drug addiction is like living life with cheat codes.

Right now I think it's Hungarian. Maybe Turkish... Last night it was some kind of Asian characters.

I'll admit, I am on a copious amount of drugs right now, but this is legit happening, and I'm kinda curious as to the why and the how.

Low doses of psychedelics are more uncomfortable than anything, I think it's best to take a strong dose the first time. If you try to work your way up from lower doses the psychology is like 'oh, is it OK to go this far? Am I comfortable with this?' and the point isn't about being comfortable, being comfortable is probably a bad thing on the whole. Just jump in, be uncomfortable and experience something crazy and intense, that's the point.

True, the intensity of a strong psychedelic trip can be a life-changing experience, even if it's not a pleasant trip. And a case can be made for the character-building benefit of a bad trip. But if somebody is completely inexperienced with psychedelics, a heroic dose can be almost traumatizing.

Having said that, I never really started experimenting with threshold / microdosing until after I did the whole strong trip thing many times over. So perhaps my advice was a bit too cautious.

To the thread starter, maybe microdosing is unnecessary, but I do stand by my recommendation to at least be prepared for something that can be quite intense, and even though you don't want to go in with a negative mindset that things might go horribly awry, just keep in mind that if it ends up being a bit overwhelming, it's only temporary.

I highly recommend trying psilocybin (magic mushrooms) for a first-time hallucinogen. One caveat though is that any hallucinogen has the potential to be an overwhelming experience. Start with a very low dose (like under one gram) to get a feel for it. Ideally, have an experienced trip-sitter nearby, but that isn't always feasible. Just proceed with caution, start small, and do whatever you can to ensure that you are in a positive state of mind.

Ketamine isn't really a hallucinogen (although it depends on how loosely you define the term 'hallucinogen'). It's technically considered a dissociative. However, it, too, can be quite overwhelming if you're unprepared for it's effects, and if you take too much.

Personally, I find ketamine to be an interesting experience, but I tend to prefer very low doses, and using it very sparingly. Some people like the intensity of a "k-hole", but it's definitely not for everybody.

If I had to describe ketamine's effects in somewhat familiar terms, I would say it's kinda like being really drunk. But that's a gross oversimplification, and I draw the comparison merely to give a very general, yet vague, idea of what ketamine's effects are like. And that is at a low dose. I personally have never gone for a higher dose because it just doesn't appeal to me.

I feel like I'm going through something very similar in my life right now.

The only difference is that I do have a passion or two that keep me well-distracted. It's true, at the end of the day, that they really are just distractions to keep us existentially occupied and to keep our minds from veering off into considerations of the finite nature, and utter intrinsic meaninglessness, of life.

But they are the only way to cope with it all effectively. I'm certain of the fact that, even if you don't have any true 'passions' in your life at the moment, you can always find one.

The real trick to it all is achieving that sensation of "flow". It's a topic discussed both in empirical Western psychology, as well as ancient Eastern philosophical teachings, going back to Hindu and Buddhist concepts.

At the end of the day, sure, it's just a coping mechanism. But if you really hit that sweet spot, you lose all concern about the capricious and transient nature of happiness. Whatever true happiness is, that's about as close as some of us will get to it.

Look to your past for cases where you've experienced that sensation of being lost in the moment, enraptured with wonder or excitement while engaging in some task. I'd be quite surprised if you have none whatsoever to draw upon, but even if you do find no such memory arising, seek out new such experiences, but with a truly open mind.

    You'll find something.

And maybe, the search itself will be enough to sustain and invigorate you.
