And also, I was in a similar boat to you when I got here, except that for me it was an even longer hiatus. I only posted rather intermittently on Zoklet. My peak involvement was during Totse years (especially 2004-2007).
There will be all kinds of confusion about a lot of things, and there are a few noteworthy events that have happened over the years, and if you do end up sticking around, I'll help clarify some of them if need be.
But not right away, cuz this is actually a tad entertaining for me.
Also, I want to give you incentive to stick around, because we kinda do need more people (although it can be surprisingly lively at certain times of the day). -

I feel that.
I've had a similar dream since as long as I can remember.
You should definitely look into homebrewing. It can save you money, and be kinda of an interesting/fun hobby.
I long to one day live off the fatta the lan' with my own cider and beer brewery and maybe farm a few different fruits and vegetables. -

When it comes to freedom of expression/speech and drug policy I'm pretty "libertarian", but I doubt I would open with such a descriptor. It does have a LOT of stigma, much of it perhaps rather deserved. -
