My point from the get go was never meant to be explicitly anti-abortion. It was just about, at least for me, it can be kinda surreal to argue in favor of something that would mean you wouldn't be here today. -

In the completely impossible scenario you just mentioned, it’s a 50/50 decision with no right or wrong answer. At the time I would have been just a baby with no autonomous consciousness. If she had chosen to kill me instead, then I wouldn’t be here right now to have any feelings about the matter. And the fact that I am here now means I’m the one that survived which would make me grateful, if anything.
Do you have zero interest in the forces of fate?
Like, if you had a plane ticket for the flight that hit the towers on 9/11, but missed it because you were too hungover after a spontaneous run in with an old friend resulted in a random night of heavy drinking, you really wouldn't contemplate the significance of that at all?
That's just absolutely foreign to me.

What you’re saying is almost the exact same thing as the argument you mentioned earlier, that you are denying the prospect of life to someone else by not having children. Those children don’t exist yet, so they don’t matter.
You’re right, if abortions were more widespread a hundred years ago then a lot of us wouldn’t be here. But that doesn’t matter because that’s purely hypothetical. You can’t change the past, only the future.
Abortions should be legal, and commonplace, and to take it a step further I think also pretty soon we should start enacting population restrictions. Because the way things are heading right now, we’re fucked
I'm not even disagreeing with the central thesis here.
It's just, it really does sound funny to hear someone say (like in the pic from the OP): "Chelsea Clinton complains that there was no abortion there for her grandmother."
That's kind of paradoxical, at least on the surface of it. -
