Of all the commonly recurring self-improvement tropes, to fap or not to fap has always been a definite bone of contention.
There are a lot of arguments in favor of both sides.
I think one common reason that people, especially men and not women, will see as a potential gain in reducing (or even eliminating altogether) masturbation is that it might lead to stronger drive and motivation in life (perhaps via a build up over time of certain hormones like Testosterone).
Personally, I tend to subscribe to that camp, but within reason. There are full blown no-fap folks who think going entire months without will turn them into wizards or something. My personal goal is just to avoid those days where I find myself masturbating like 5 times a day. Once every few days usually feels like a by-product of a busier life, since I literally just forget to do it some days. Five times a day, though, and I feel like I'm stagnating in life in a major way. -
