The thing is, it really doesn't work like that.
Positing the existence of anything automatically incurs the burden of either proof or reason.
Which actually entails that the existence of physical matter requires proof or reason.
We can't "prove" that physical matter exists (independent of the mental senses and states that we experience).
So neither God nor the physical universe can be proven to exist.
And positing that either of them does exist requires proof. -

Lol, it had occurred to me that some on here might potentially do that, I just didn't think it would be worth the extra effort just to rig polls.
I guess that wrecks that idea.
The retroactive de-anonymizing still bothers me just a little bit, though. -
2020-10-23 at 8:22 PM UTC in I will be exposing voter fraudI haven't looked at the ISS codebase in quit a while, but, for dealing with "voter fraud" going forward, would it be possible to fetch the IP address using the username that posted it, and then check if the length of the list of all IP addresses that voted is greater than 1? Then it could just give a general response of "voter fraud occurred", or even, "voter fraud occurred from the following usernames" (not their IP addresses, obviously).
Then you could have both anonymous and non-anonymous polls at the same time, with the ability to detect voter fraud in all cases.
But then there's the somewhat uncommon use case of users living together, lol. -
2020-10-23 at 8:15 PM UTC in I will be exposing voter fraudSo it looks like it's been implemented.
I thought it was a cool idea at first, thinking it would be both:
1. An option that can be presented alongside the option for anonymous polls.
2. Not retroactive!
Number two kinda feels especially problematic to me, since people initially kinda had an expectation of anonymity when they voted.
I can't say this change affects me in any significant way, though, so I'm not likely to submit my own pull over it.
But it's food for thought. -

I know the feel.
And BC in particular is just undeniably superior to most other regions.
I've been to just about every province, and some of them even have their own unique charm.
But BC is, and will always be, my home. -

Ok, no offense, but I'm not about to watch a 40 minute video that someone posts, and I mean anyone, unless there's some especially compelling reason to do so.
Your video might depict some kind of Utopia on earth, but it's 40 fucking minutes long.

I only really ended up in Kelowna when I was relocated for work a couple years back.
It was an awesome experience though because it's an absolutely beautiful region.
I may have actually been slightly higher north when I was a kid. We used to go camping a lot, and these trips would sometimes take many hours, sometimes even an entire day.
I know I've been to Lilluette (sp?). It might be more north than Kelowna.
Prince George tho, that's north as fuck. Can't say I've been. -

Originally posted by netstat I was born in northern BC and spent most of my early childhood in a small town hours from the nearest city (inb4 doxed), so I'm used to cold and inconvenience. I actually enjoy those things tbh. Maybe I'll move back there. Still have some family in the area.
I need to do some research on homesteading - it sounds interesting but I haven't looked into it properly.
Holy shit that's crazy.
Northern BC is pretty sparsely populated.
Don't reveal too much if you don't want to, but I'll say the set I rep... Lower mainland born and raised.
I've always lived, worked in, or gone to school in, Vancouver and surrounding towns.
I've never been north of Kelowna as far as I can recollect, though. -

I've just confirmed myself to be low IQ.
Like I said, it's an essentially meaningless construct. -

Originally posted by netstat they tend to have many different types of questions to measure different aspects of intelligence (verbal/nonverbal reasoning, memory, spatial etc.)
i can see how some sections could be biased but then you have questions like this which are pretty straightforward and don't require prior knowledge of anything
The question mark is black so if I'm black I might be more inclined to pick that option.
Ok but actually yeah most IQ test questions are unbiased.
It's just that a few of them are biased.
But also, most people don't put much stock into IQ test results anyway, so it's not even that much if an issue. -
2020-10-23 at 6:39 AM UTC in Moving northThere are so many places where you can do that.
You can actually officially homestead in northern BC. That means you can essentially plot a flag in the ground and declare that land your legally owned property.
There are some caveats, though, like having to physically occupy the property 6 months out of the year, or something like that.
But prepare for ridiculously cold weather and the inconvenience of having to drive for hours just to grab basic essentials. -

One time in a psych class way back when, this topic was brought up.
We had to engage in this activity where the prof showed us actual questions from official IQ tests.
One of them was a picture of a girl on a horse, with arrows pointing to various places in the picture.
We had to name the aforementioned pointed to areas.
One of them was the stirrups, I think (or whatever they're called).
At the time, I had no fucking clue what they were called because I knew literally nothing about horses.
If that were a real IQ test, my score would have immediately dropped.
That being said, though, I don't know if I'd call them "racist" so much as culturally biased. -
