After i am done building the former. I'll take a request if any of you niggas want a highly specialized bespoke OS. I'll do one or two depending on how elaborate the requests are. I promise not to embed a bootkit. In fact i'll provide the source files and a version you can use in VM, if you wanna check for shenanigans. -

It doesn't really matter because i want to host the server on a box that's a part of my data center. If you have the time/resources i would definitely recommend setting up a private data center. Not quite analogous to my set up but one beefy server that you own and have physical control over/access to, with ProxMox-VE running lets you set up a lot of VMs and containers plus ProxMox gives you enterprise level capabilities, security-wise and networking-wise. In fact it is on par with VMWare's ESXi and vCenter, and it's open source.
Uhh oh yeah didn't make this thread to extoll the virtues of private DataCenter ownership(But you definitely want them kind of assets and capabilities if you're serious about all this kompooter stuff at the very least if you got infra to manage).
ANYWAY! I want something like Slack, but better. I want to be able to start a repo on the server have it so that Github, Gitlab, and Bitbucket are all integrated, so i can mirror or push/pull to those resources. I also want to be able to give external(Outside my main network) and internal clients access on a per project/repo basis. Chat Ops would be nice but not entirely necessary and i would also prefer everything to be open source.
Well, that's what i want but what is possible in terms of OSS solutions i am not quite sure of which is why i wanted to make this thread to discuss whether you know of or have used something of a similar nature. General DevOps Platforms discussion is encouraged as well.

One of the things i like about it as well is that i can compile a Nim program to DLL for Windows or Shared library for *Nix something you can't do with Python. I use Python for a lot, since it is a generalist language, or workhorse language as you put it. In that regard Nim is similar but better.
I intend to switch from Python for all the things to Nim for all the things, unless a certain project warrants the use of Python specifically of course. As far as an everyday languages go, expressive, predictable and reliable is what i like in that
Oh and i do think Nim has a Macro system i am not that familiar with lisp, or lisp macros to say whether the two are similar in that regard though. Are you familiar with GPC? It's a language used in game console hacking, Nim Macros work kind of like GPC macros from what i have seen so far. -

Also it was late when i showed up yesterday so you nigs were probably passed out but i think i sent everyone a new auth request.
Also, i know i haven't updated the Dev Room in a while but i think i'll use Github for automation and CI in the form of a bot and i'll do an integration specifically for GitLab as well, everyone part of the Dev room will get read and write permissions to the Gitlab one. I'll make a new account and turn it into the GH Org for Element Dev.
Something i have that is ready to go now is an implementation you can use through Tor, and use to host your rooms on the DerpWeb. Obviously NodeJS and Electron are JavaScript so standard security level is the only level at which everything works as it should. I can host the deep web variant on my datacenter in a dedicated VM i can spin up.
So far all the Element Dev stuff has been for fun, but we can take it to the next level, but i suppose standard everything suits the purposes of IM'ing just fine. -
