    Did you go to university? Most managerial positions don't really have a qualification besides "went to college for something(anything)". I don't think you'd have any issue as a European, if your spoken English is a good as your written and you have some work experience I think you wouldn't have any kind of disadvantage vs. an american. I'm not sure what the job market is like outside of tech, but if you can do project management stuff (not sure if that's part of your training, or anyone's training, I hardly know what project managers do other than get paid too much) then there's pretty good demand here.

    The problem with the PGP thing is that it's a bit inconvenient to delete when I'm on my phone. Not a big deal, though.

    Why do you bother to delete it at all though? You can just leave it in and it won't show up in the quote. I suppose the challenge is when you want to cut up a post into multiple quote blocks. Yeah, I should probably do something about that.

    Well I think your case is a little different since you're competent enough to realize the issues with your profession. You can presumably find different employment or attempt to manage your earnings responsibly for your future.

    It's reasonable to prioritize projects which we can expect to do greater good or to eliminate more suffering on a practical level, but that doesn't change the moral status of an act. If you have to choose between greater and lesser evils then of course it's right to choose the lesser (this is why I don't condemn people in the third world for raising livestock if that's really the only way they can sustain themselves) but this shouldn't be the present situation for anyone in this thread.

    It's perfectly reasonable to attempt to remediate issues like human malnutrition and our exploitation of lower animals at the same time. In fact it's quite possible to do both at the same time as it requires fewer natural resources to sustain yourself without meat and it's usually less expensive in developed countries, so you can commit the money you've saved with your plant based diet to feeding those less fortunate that yourself.

    Honestly cutting Google out of your life is probably a good move. I've been moving more towards eliminating or making redundant third party services in my life. Hardware doesn't bother me so much as long as I have some reasonable degree of control over it, it's more about bringing content hosting onto infrastructure I either physically control or can trivially move to a different provider (e.g. commodity hosting).

    That said my education and day job involve a reasonable degree of wrangling infrastructure and it's a pretty laborious undertaking for me, I have my doubts about how reasonable it is to expect joe blow to give a shit about content ownership.
