    Nice, but watch this.

3000 even, trips with zeros, even multiple of thousand. What do you think?

Maybe it's because I can see deleted posts or something but this is post 3019 to me

sorry to bust your burble but donald trump won't win. He's part of military/media psyop used to distract americans from obama ensuring he has a third term that or mitt romney will be president. study it up buttholes

Hey Bill Krozby, 100% serious post here: if Obama or Romney win the 2016 election I will publicly make a thread stating that you were totally right and almost every idea I have about american politics is wrong. I will do this, if I fail to you can quote this post and call me out as a liar and phony. Are you confident enough of your position to do the same? That if neither Obama or Romney win in 2016, you'll openly admit that you were wrong and seriously reconsider your views in light of that evidence?

Further (but separately, don't feel any obligation to take me up on this) would you be interested in betting money on it? I'm willing to wager any amount from 1 cent to the estimated $20,000 it would cost to start up Bill Krozby dog that neither of those candidates will be the next president of the USA.

I mean everything in this post 100% seriously and hope we can engage seriously, as intelligent and intellectually honest adults, about our respective opinions on the coming election.

Do you think that Machiavelli and Trump have much in common? I find some striking similarities in their work and would be inclined to say that Trump's role in American politics is something of a distorted version of what Machiavelli was doing. Granted Machiavelli was much more an advisory man politically than a leading figure but in terms of business and as a deal maker his name will forever be on the books so to speak. I think Trump is what you get that if you combined 1/3 Machiavelli and 1/ 3 Mussolini and 1/3 Vespasian. And as a fan of those three people I think that Trump is going to win the presidency and Make America Great Again.

Well it depends if you mean Machiavelli as the views represented by The Prince or Machiavelli in light of his total life and works (as in the theory that The Prince was actually satire). Either way I don't see any alignment with Trump above and beyond the sense in which every american politician pays lip service to notions of democracy and liberty and the way almost all of the right and most of the left are either for, or scared shittless of opposing, massive defense budgets (which I'd argue are contradictory ideals, but that much is inevitable when you dive into the dark and intellectually desolate world of american minarchism).

While the rhetoric around wall building certainly can conjure authoritarian imagery, and while I find it personally distasteful regardless, I think you can make a reasonable argument for it while upholding liberal (as opposed to authoritarian) views as Trump largely does. If anything he's a mere caricature of neoconservativism with just enough libertarian flavor sprinkled on to get a begrudged vote out of the weird surge that movement experienced around the last election.

The Stranger, As I Lay Dying, and that Salinger short story collection (not the one published recently) were the three books I read for fun last year. Kinda embarrassing level of intake but w/e. I think I enjoyed Salinger's the most, reading him outside of the endlessly repeated analysis Catcher in the Rye is always submitted to was more fun. The Stranger was also pretty readable, a little angsty at points but then I suppose so is Salinger. As I Lay Dying was interesting, it felt pretty dense to me. Not a super thick book but it was just so slow moving that it felt oppressive to read. In spite of that I felt something for the characters by the end, in a sort of detached way. The whole thing was just surreal and alien to read.

I used to hang out with a bunch of girls who watched that fucking shit show OC California. What does OC stand for in this context?

I lived in "the" OC, most of the show was actually filmed in Venice Beach. It wasn't such a bad parody of what newport beach (the area that the show is supposed to be about) is, sadly.

Do you look up to those people because I think I wouldn't even piss on them. Except that girl there of course. She would get it good.

Is this US Punk nowadays? The dudes from "Workaholics"? Fuck man… dudes here still walk around with leather jackets, safety pin piercings and rats on their shoulders. Violent as fuck, too. SMH.

Punk isn't about the way you dress.

Also I'd like to point out true patricians only listen to ITAOTS one way:

Also, is this site bloated? We have the changing banners but I think they pass the Taft Test…..

Yeah, at least it's a lot heavier than a forum should be. vB5 was just poorly designed in a lot of ways. Cold cache page load cost me 1.0MB and spanned ~56 requests (a big part of that second number are unsprited icons which I could actually see an argument for but it's questionable).

Yeah, saw this on HN a few weeks ago, I generally agree. There's a lot of really excessive over engineering for fairly simple stuff. A particularly humorous vicious cycle I see a lot is "pages load slow, so let's make that an XHR call" which leads to needing these big gnarly pieces of infrastructure to support the XHR and rerender the relevant parts of the page async, which leads to longer load times, which leads to putting even more stuff on XHR until you end up with loading screens for your website and life is shit.

I do think there's a tendency to read these pro-minimalism pieces (remember when motherfucking website and its derivatives were making the rounds a few years back?) and run too far in the opposite direction, particularly vulnerable to this kind of thinking are novices who, consciously or not, see it as a cheap way to claim expertise. Like in the case I mentioned above, XHR is perfectly valid and strictly necessary in a lot of situations but in the wrong place is just hurts user experience.

I don't believe you. What's your rational for buying an iphone over an Android phone? Genuinely interested. IIRC Apple has something like a 40% profit margin and 90% of smartphone profits (probably inaccurate, but around that range). Says a lot about the people that buy their products, paying for a brand name/label (although there is the intellectual property issue).

It's true, I would take a picture of it but the camera is kinda attached to it so... could use a webcam on my computer I guess but I don't care enough. The reason I bought an iphone is because I have exactly zero interest in ricing my phone and my use cases are simple enough that . The three things I do with my phone are read email, text, and listen to music. The first two are simple enough that OS doesn't really matter and the music story has always been better on iOS than android, for hopefully obvious reasons. General OS chrome is better in iOS too, although that's a bit subjective. Then there's physical considerations, build quality is generally better (yes you can find well built android devices but they almost always have something wrong with them, be it shitty battery life, crappy screens, or poor form factors (I have a 5s, it's the perfect form factor to me, the trend towards oversize screens is just a reflection of the general misuse of phones these days)), battery life is good (again, 5s, I can't speak to newer models, I know the battery case thing happened but that's a reason not to by that particular model), screen is better than anything you'll find in android land. God knows I have no love for apple, I just think they make a better product for what I want out of a phone.

I did cocaine until 9am and took the battery out of my phone. I was with a girl and some guys but did not fuck her, although she said I could. When I put the battery back in it immediately started ringing and my gf and her 4 year old son were on their way to my house. She assumed I was cheating on her, I reassured her I was doing cocaine with male compadres. Then I played super smash brothers with her son, fucked her in the other room (which made a loud clapping noise that her son must be used to by now) and she was kinda nervous about her son catching us again. Then we smoked cigarettes and talked while she stressed about her daughter getting on a different bus to go to her piano teachers house and I laid down naked. Then I gave her $20 for a cab and fell asleep for 7 hours and woke up missing calls from a different girl who's in another city now and wants to bang again and a shady car salesman who's on his way to jail. I once took my girlfriend to a bridge that goes over traintracks and told her to look down then threw her purse off (she had two on her, I picked the one she had before she met me) while she cried uncontrollably. I told her that would be her if she fucks around. I also told her to wait in the lobby of a building (twice) while I went and fucked another girl.

The truth is women just want a relationship to work because that's how they feel they have value. After spending months telling her to kill herself, if you start to acknowledge her decision to continue living might have been a good idea, they'll feel like they achieved something and are doing alright. Plus she's probably bored.

I have an iphone and can't open the chassis to take the battery out so I stopped reading after the first sentence knowing it wouldn't be relevant to me because of that. Actually, to be honest, I got "took the battery out of my phone" in the first saccade and didn't catch the start of the sentence, so I really only read like half a sentence before stopping.

Are you aware not everyone has phones with removable batteries? If not I suggest you do your research. You're excluding a significant portion of your viewership by using non-inclusive language like "took the battery out of my phone" and frankly I won't stand for that kind of behavior on this site. This is a safe place where we accept both people with phones with removable batteries and people without the same battery-removal privilege. Please be more considerate when posting in the future or I may have to issue you a formal warning.
