yup. Looks like Trump wanted to attack Russian SAM sites and Iranian barracks, but Mattis convinced him that was insane. -

Don't fall for what?
Between the lines, Mattis is ultimately responsible for this being a minor attack and not the beginning of a nuclear exchange - where he should be commended, he'll instead be blamed for the attack's abject failure. I'd be willing to bet he won't be Secretary of 'Defence' much longer. -

2018-04-17 at 6:15 AM UTCLooks like Israel tried to attack the Shayrat and Dumayr airbases overnight - all 9 missiles were intercepted and caused no damage.
This must be very frustrating for them. -

Russia's released statistics on which AA units were most effective against the US strikes with PANTSIR and BUK complexes topping the list. PANTSIR was a given but BUK is a surprise - it's an old Soviet system that's been incrementally upgraded regularly... I'm surprised they've been able to make it so effective.
There is plenty of speculation but no official confirmation that Russia used ECM/ECW tech to slow the incoming missiles, possibly employing the KATYUSHA* complex
*name probably not correct, need to verify -

2018-04-17 at 8:56 AM UTCNow that the SAA has fully recovered East Ghouta, the Tigers have begun to investigate the facilities the 'moderate rebels' used as prisons and have found numerous mass graves. It's estimated that Jaysh al-Islam took around 4000 prisoners, military and civilian, but only returned 200 when they left the city.
Anna-news has photo/video evidence, but don't expect to see it on the news. -

I now believe this to be true. Trump himself had this to say:We had a very, very severe… fight in Syria recently, a month ago, with our troops and Russian troops. It is very sad but many people died in that fight. There has been nobody tougher than me,” the billionaire president said, without providing further details.
There have been no recent battles between the US and Russia, at least no officially recognised ones with significant casualties.
We are talking about Trump though so it's entirely possible he just made it up, or is attributing the recent spate of attacks again coalition soldiers to Russia -
2018-04-20 at 5:41 AM UTCSome amusing things relating to the latest missile attack:
- The French initially attempted to fire a salvo of cruise missiles from one of their warships but weapons systems failed to fire, so they deployed fighters with SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles, one of which failed to fire and had to be ejected into the ocean
- Through either internal failure or ECW effects, two US cruise missiles have been reported as crashed and mostly intact and were collected by the SAA, likely being studied in Russia -
