SYRIA - 3-4 days ago Syrian air defences brought down a jedi-16 entering their airspace from the Golan - this is a tacit shift in the SAA's defence doctrine, where they previously had opted not to directly intercept Israeli aircraft (previously attempting to intimidate them with aggressive radar locks and firing small numbers of slow, outdated missiles that had little chance of intercepting modern aircraft).

On it's face it's interesting enough, but internal SAA sources have also stated that Israel has been told if they continue to mount strikes on Syrian territory, SAA's missile command will rain surface-to-surface missiles across settlements in the Golan and anywhere they can reach. The verifiable fact that Israel moved large volumes of anti-air equipment to the northern border right after lends some credence to the leaks.

***Lavrov is presently giving a conference stating that the US must leave southern Syria, specifically Al-Tanf. I'll wait until a transcript is released to say anything about it, but it's likely in relation to the recent US air attack against an SAA armor column that killed several Russian PMCs.

Here's something interesting - The KRG is apparently still drilling and selling oil using Iraqi oil wells in Northern Kurdistan (further north than the Iraqi Army went when Kurds tried to break away from Iraq) - the oil is being bought by Turkey (!!) and resold to Israel (!!!) via ocean routes.

Russia is now deploying the RS-28 SARMAT and KINZHAL/AVENGARD Hypersonic Glide Vehicles. Both are able to carry multiple nuclear/conventional/dummy warheads and are completely unstoppable by current anti-ballistic missile solutions.

To reiterate - SARMAT is a ground-launched ICBM that can hit any location in the world and is, to the best of my knowledge, completely unstoppable given it's speed and avoidance characteristics.

The KINZHAL system is an HSGV that is launched from an aircraft and was specifically designed to obliterate carrier groups.

If deployed in number, they render US ABM systems and sea power completely useless. This would be the time to strike if the US is afraid of having a huge amount of their military power nullified.

There'll probably be parties in Washington at this news. This means new programs, moar money.

The great thing about ABM is that it's impossible. Fights that can never be won are the best kind - war against drugs, race against racism, etc.

the US ABM system has always been about perception and not about performance. i wouldnt trust that junk to hit 2% of their targets

technically the SS-30 isnt an ICBM in that it doesnt go up...pitch over...then come back down with a parabolic trajectory.

the SS-30 goes up...drops off the kids in space...the kids hang out for awhile doing, some sight-seeing...then when they get the urge, deorbit and lawn-dart someplace. this is why the statement 'unlimited range' was made...the payload (not necessarily a warhead) can hang out it orbit for as long as it has fuel and be above any geographic coordinate on the planet.

to be clear, nothing about this is a technology is an amazing feat. it is just another ploy from the MINITRU to keep everyone cowering and afraid

    woopdeedoo.

like i said...nothing news. this technology has been in existence for years. china has had ballistic 'carrier killers' for years. india (whom russia co-developed the hypersonic technology with) has had its bro-mo-whatever (i dont remember how its spelt) missile for years. russia has had unstoppable high-speed underwater rockets to kill carriers for decades.

all this hype is nothing more than MINITRU propaganda.

China's DF-21 stratospheric 'carrier killers' are ground-launched and have an active range of something like 200km from memory - meaning that they're only able to engage ships close to the Chinese coast. The new KINZHAL HSGV are launched from existing combat aircraft and have an active range of around 2000km, meaning they can be deployed virtually anywhere and at a range that the aircraft can't be pre-emptively shot down.

india (whom russia co-developed the hypersonic technology with) has had its bro-mo-whatever (i dont remember how its spelt) missile for years. russia has had unstoppable high-speed underwater rockets to kill carriers for decades.

BRAHMOS I think. The domestic Russian variant is the ZIRCON missile. While that gives them an edge in ship-to-ship combat, Russia doesn't really have any significant naval 'power projection' outside of the Black Sea - which is really the main point of this announcement:

The Russian military 'modernisation' effort has, until now, focused on rebuilding Russian ability to defend it's own borders (as is dictated in their current constitution). These new announcements go way beyond that - they're reinstating MAD by rebuilding their nuclear forces and investing in the capacity to nullify conventional forces and 'force multipliers' anywhere in the world.

Like I said in another thread, Russia and China are trying to choke the US economically (or just letting it choke itself) while using military means to 'discourage' the US from tampering with the new trade routes. The US establishment has demonstrated it knows the plan and is looking for a way to stop it - this 'new' military tech will significantly degrade the US' ability to wage war internationally once it's fully deployed, but it won't be until 2020 or so. Between now and then is their window of opportunity to be able to inflict maximum damage, and I don't think they'll allow that window to close without taking advantage.

Something that I didn't mention, which is probably the most important thing Putin said in the conference, was that Russia no longer seeks to protect only it's own borders and interests. Attacks against its allies will now be responded to as though they were attacks on Russia itself, without specifying which countries it considered allies worthy of its protection.

the point im trying to make is...this is nothing new, different, and in no way a game changer militarily speaking. it certainly isnt deserving of all the hype the MINITRU has been slathering all over it. the ruskies advertising their new phallic toys is just propaganda.

These allegations against the Russian government over the alleged poisoning of Sergei Skripal are really turning things up a notch or three. ((Somebody)) really wants war and it's looking more and more like they're going to get it.
