SYRIA - A Russian Lieutenant-General and two Colonels have been killed in a precision mortar strike. Russia is now openly accusing US of providing co-ordinates and instruction to ISIS and aiding them in a wide area.

FOllowing up on this, a lot of the people in the thread have pointed out that those are 'sample' ballots showing how to vote - the writing across it is SAMPLE in... Kurdish?

Not certain about the reports of people being ejected from camps for voting NO; will need to corroborate with other sources.

There is now a pattern of Russia trying to demonstrate that the USSOF is working directly with ISIS, and it seems they have a substantial amount of evidence they're slowly releasing.

if it were that resolution on a light table I could tell...and I'm qualified.

I could tell those revetments were built by someone who knew what they were doing...and had big machinery.

lol, I was talking to someone else about this.

The jedis think that they're testing Syrian-Russian air defences (likely to see if the SAA is making the same mistakes they did in the last war - they're not), but the Syrians have so much more to gain from live combat data, ESPECIALLY with drones considering most modern militaries are moving toward using drones more and attack aircraft less.

The SAA have only recently gotten a hold of the PANTSIR and modern BUK systems (they were previously fielding Soviet-era models), but more importantly they've just now integrated their anti-air defence systems with Russia - it stands to reason that once mastered, they'll be able to integrate radar and defence systems with their historic allies against Israel - and the prospect of an integrated air-defence system running from Lebanon to Iran (including early warnings for missile launches) is the sort of thing that Bibi has night terrors over.

RIP Kurdistan tho. They need to back the fuck off and work with what they got. Fuck fighting ISIS. The POWERS are just going to use it as an excuse (not that they need one) to kick the kurds out. I wonder how the non kurdish locals feel about this. Are they okay with the kurds being in power? Do most of them want kurdistan?

In Iraq? Kurdistan is an autonomous region; the referendum is for complete secession away from Iraq. It's likely to pass (I see a lot of shady things relating the referendum itself, but I also see a lot of people intentionally trying to make it look bad), but if it does it'll be bad news for everyone. Turkey and Iran have mobilised their militaries and Iraq has vowed to shut the borders if they secede. Kurdistan will be alone against Turkey, and if they aren't crushed they'll be used as an outpost for US and Israeli military interests, which is exactly why Iraq, Syria and Iran want none of it.

If you're talking about 'Rojava' or the planned partitioning of Syria, Assad and Russia will not allow it to happen - they've directly stated such at the UN. Assad was open to discussions for some level of autonomy, but secession is completely off the table because again, it's only being supported by the west as a foothold for the US/Israel. And you're right - many of the regions they claim as 'Kurdish' they have no historical right to, and though Kurdish communities live there, they're nowhere near the majority. I recommend reading Sarah Abed's writing for some insight on how the YPG/SDF/etc. operate.

It's hard to know what the average Syrian Kurds want anymore, given that their militias have been almost completely overrun and displaced by the YPG (literally the same group as the PKK, which is why the Turks are always so angry nowadays) and Peshmergas.

MoD sources report that they have evidence of Al-Nusra and ISIS using CIA channels to communicate with each other and with US SOF, though nothing official yet.

The fact that the Russian Defence Minister had to leave the ZAPAD large-scale training exercises to deal with it indicates that there are very serious actions being undertaken.

So apparently there are around 4 million registered voters in Iraqi Kurdistan

30 million ballots have been registered with a predicted 70 million in total

IRAQ/KURDISTAN - Kurdistan's has declared a victory for the 'yes' vote for secession. Iraq has given them 72 hours to relinquish control of all airports and border crossings. Erdogan has said they can 'wave as many Israeli flags as you like, they won't save you'.

    sources. sometimes apple, sometimes garlic.

IRAQ - ISIS is going all out on both ends of country the moment the Iraqi military is preparing to subdue Kurdistan - they've taken control of a good chunk of Ramadi city in the west and launched a mass of suicide bombings (largely stopped by local PMUs) just south of Kirkuk.

Also, a video is going around of a supposed ISIS fighter discussing how all of the local units are forbidden by upper command to engage Kurdish SDF forces. The language he uses is genuine but there's no reliable confirmation.

SYRIA - Russia is going to town on the groups responsible for the attack that tried to capture their MPs.

Earlier today it was reported that a group of commanders deemed responsible for planning the attack were killed after 'using all levels of the Russian intelligence apparatus to find them', now they're carpet-bombing HTS (Al-Nusra) and Turkistan Islamic Party installations all around Idlib.

It's worth noting that TIP is mostly Turks and Chinese Ughyers and haven't gotten much attention from the RuAF and SAA up until now.

second fighter has been taken prisoner and repeated the same things

SYRIA - STILL LOOKING FOR INDEPENDENT CONFIRMATION - I'm seeing reports that Russia has sparked off an S400, and following the launch put an A50 and two SU35s in the air sometime yesterday. If true, that's hugely troubling and likley jedi-related.
