I dunno, probably first step is be in Arizona or New Mexico. There are other mescaline-containing cacti which are legal unlike peyote, namely San Pedro (Trichocereus pachanoi), Peruvian Torch (Trichocereus peruvianus), and Achuma (Trichocereus bridgesii), which can be found online. I did some bridgesii back in the day, and it's said to be the closest to peyote in effects.

I don't know about US but here they sell Peyote and San Pedro on eBay.
