Point is, it's a shit measurement for the gravity of the situation. 1500 nurses died worldwide. 50 elephants is taller than the Sears tower? Elephants are the largest living land mammal. The Sears tower is a large building. When people think of WWII, they aren't thinking of nurse casualties. Probably because less than 1500 died. It's a completely meaningless metric. It's like comparing the Sears tower to amoeba instead of elephants.
If more soldiers died to COVID than in WWII? Sure. Nurses? Fuck off. It's medical professionals tugging their own dicks by associating themselves with the latent heroism and awe people have for WWII vets and nothing more. -

Yeah, I used the term proto-fascist so as to avoid flat out calling you a Nazi or fascist like a lefty would. Your ideological leanings do, however, lend themselves to a fascist mode of governance. Whatever movement you'd inevitably be involved in hasn't quite fomented itself yet, so "proto-fascist" was the best I could come up with. To the right of fascism is what... monarchism? Some kind of bizarre secular theocracy? Give me a better descriptor for your [intensely abnormal] ideology and I'll use it.

Filing them is an inconvenience, and paying them is to many steps removed from any tangible benefit people end up receiving as a result (or when the effects are more blatant like with universal healthcare, needed too infrequently to seem worthwhile).
Seriously, people in the UK are complaining too. All the time. People in Canada. People in every place where the government permits complaint are at this very moment complaining about the government. And they're all equally justified. It's not like Americans are unique in this regard. -
