Originally posted by Technologist Well I did not know that. I did remember what happened with Brandon Lee and the “blank” wad! I thought they were mostly toy-like guns after what happened to Brandon Lee.
Sadly there's no good substitute for "a gun going BANG" like a (more-or-less) real gun going BANG. -

Originally posted by Donald Trump I have highlighted in bold the parts of your post that aren't true.
They're all true though. It is 100% the set armorer's responsibility to ensure the firearms are safe to use for whatever the next shot in the film requires. Which means, you know, checking to make sure there are no live rounds in it for whatever reason. -

Originally posted by Technologist Shut up asshole! You never pointed a toy gun at anyone as a child? You’re an ass.
"Prop guns" are not toys. At best, you have semi-automatic "prop guns" which are just guns that have been rigged to properly cycle when blanks are fired. A prop revolver is just a revolver. And even if you want to classify "gun loaded with blanks" a toy, you're wrong. Blanks are still dangerous. Not to mention the risk of what happened to Brandon Lee, although that's the armorer's responsibility. -

But if you point a loaded gun at someone and pull the trigger then that should be regarded as either self defence or deliberate murder.
Are we seriously treating this like an accident? How can that be an accident?
Loaded gun, pointed, trigger pulled. Where is the accident?
It's not complicated. It's not an accident when you point a loaded gun at someone and pull the trigger. What was the objective? A joke? Laugh it off over the next 25 years in jail, fuckface.
Put. That coffee. Down. Coffee is for non-murderers. You think I'm fucking with you? I am not fucking with you.
I agree that his actions were negligent, especially for someone who seems generally fearful of firearms. A reasonable person must assume every firearm is loaded, but it's the set armorer's job to ensure that isn't the case when it reaches the hands of an actor. Firing a gun towards the camera for a shot may necessitate aiming the gun toward other people (which is what I suspect happened, since he tagged the cinematographer and director). It's not murder. At worst, negligent homicide. Words have meanings. -

Originally posted by Speedy Parker S&W .500 can deliver over 4200 Ft/Lbs of muzzle energy from an 8 inch barrel. Even with a 10 inch barrel about the best you will get with Gvt 45-70 is around 1500 Ft/Lbs of muzzle energy. The Gvt 45-70 was designed as a rifle round. To reach it's maximum potential of just under 5000 Ft/Lbs it needs to be fired from a 20 inch barrel or possibly longer depending on the brand, weight of the projectile, and whether they are hollow points, FMJ, ballistic tip etc. So no, the BFR in 45-70 does not pack the punch of any revolver chambered in S&W .500.
yeah okat that sounds reasonable and all but with the 45-70 you can probably claim you're fire wizard

I see absolutely no need for anyone to own an AR 15 style rifle or for anyone to have extremely large clips for their guns.

you coulda been carrying a BFR in 45-70 for REAL stopping power and instead you carry a peashooter smh -

Guns are fun to shoot and own…and I'm a no-good liberal.
Heroin is also fun to shoot. That doesn't mean we should let people have it. I guess your "fun" is enough to justify perpetuating the existence of mass shooters. I bet when you think about Stephen Paddock you think what fun it would have been to unload clip after clip of deadly ammunition onto a crowd from your fully semi-automatic assault weapons with bumper stocks. smh -

"A certain job" is doing a lot of work in obfuscation here. Guns are for killing. That's the job. That's why they don't like them - because we have a word for "tools that make killing easier". It's "weapon". They're weapons. Deadly weapons. -
