Yep. We'll start to see more and more nations join together for power while retaining their individualistic identities. Like the EU, or East Africa which is actually set to form next year. It's inevitable. Just takes the hegemony to fall for nations to be split up into smaller states that will seek to form unions like this.

Splitting up the Ottoman Empire? Hello Middle East. Hello Arab League.
It won't be in our life times most likely. The stumble of civilization takes centuries, not years. But eventually countries like the USA, Russia, and China will fall into many smaller states.
I mean shit. We already have the UN. There is power in numbers. Yeah, the UN has kind of a small dick and doesn't really do much, but as a platform for geopolitical discussion it has been world changing. Think of it. For all of human history, all the nations of the world have never been able to get in one place and talk. Now they can. It runs all the time. It's not some summit at some lord's castle. We're connected to the world at all times and we generally know what every other nation is doing.
Star Trek is inevitable.
