Australia bans everything, they aren't really a leader in this kind of thing. "A few European countries" is not really descriptive. As far as I know it's only banned in the UK by the same technicality that also bans feeling good about the smell of flowers. -

We're getting screwed either way. I don't think anybody with a brain likes either Trump or Biden. But Trump is trying to undo a lot of institutions that Americans hold dear. Like privatize the postal service for example. It's on Trump's website, along with getting rid of social security.
Like those are pretty important. I like having a good mail system, and my cheaper tax funded healthcare, and a way for people to retire even though I plan on dying before I get the chance. I think all of these systems dramatically increase quality of life. I know when Hitler privatized healthcare in Germany (srs he did) the number of people who had healthcare coverage went significantly down even though the economy was doing great at the time. If Trump gets rid of Medicaid, I will lose my health insurance. Having had actual heart surgery during a time when you could still be denied health insurance for pre-existing conditions, I am pretty gung ho about a system which ensures everybody is able to have quality health insurance. Biden was the VP of Obama who made this possible and passed the laws that literally changed my life, because there was a long time where I had trouble getting/keeping health insurance without rates getting ridiculously high.
I don't care about paying for health insurance. I'm willing to do that. Either through taxes or through government regulated prices and private insurance. I just want it to be affordable. Right now, Democrats are the only ones offering any kind of change. Like I've said before, Trump has had 4 years to improve the healthcare system. During the first 2 years of his term he had the house and senate and definitely could've passed some kind of change, but he didn't. Healthcare is still crazy expensive for a lot of Americans. This is a life and death difference for a lot of people. It almost was for me.
So yeah, I'm voting Biden. Fuck any of this 'both sides are the same' bullshit. Both sides are not the same. One side offers a solution, and the other doesn't. Maybe if Republicans had a reasonable plan to privatize healthcare it would be different, but they don't have anything. -

What do you mean classified as a controlled substance? As far as I know there's not really been a huge push against it except in Europe. I kind of doubt it'll ever be banned here in the US. It's not like it fucks you up or anything. It doesn't really send people to the hospitals. Barely recreational and anybody who abuses it knows its a dumb drug to be addicted to. I don't see it making those new drug craze headlines.

You know, like most first world countries. "Pay for your shit" doesn't really work when Americans are the only ones paying such egregious amounts for healthcare. It's an average of $10,209 per person. Second highest is Switzerland at about 8k. Then it starts dipping down into the 4-6k range. Luxemborg, Norway, Germany, Sweden, etc. They all have top of the line AFFORDABLE healthcare.
I mean fuck, even Republicans want healthcare reform and affordable healthcare. They just want to do it differently. Everybody recognizes there is a problem, and that we are paying way too much. Nobody should ever be in debt just because they got sick. The whole point of being a nation in the first place is to pool our resources and support one another. It's called taxes, and they literally pay for civilization as we know it.
Helping others is just human nature. That's why you see elderly and crippled cavemen. Even when we were nomadic hunters we were taking care of our own. Well guess what? If you're an American citizen, everyone in America is your own. -
