Originally posted by Rear Naked Joke More like, neuralink is a scam. I.e. we are nowhere close to being able to do what Elon claims. We could even do some rudimentary control but no, you are not gonna be accessing information at the speed of thought. Unless your thoughts buffer due to being between two tall buildings in Chicago.
Whatever the public has knowledge of, the deep state/military industrial complex is lightyears ahead of. -

I have met crazies like her before, like this guy who walked into taco bell and talked to me about random conspiracies for an hour, or this homeless guy I talked to at a park in San Diego who told me he worked for the DOD and that they removed part of his brain so he wouldn't remember the top secret projects he worked on .... -

2019-10-07 at 9:23 AM UTC in Insider says "PS5 to be the biggest leap in performance in Playstation history"You can't run games off of a USB drive or USB connected hard drive, the PS2 USB port is really outdated so the read speed is too slow to run the games properly without hiccups.
The only non disc method that works properly is if you have an older PS2 that supports the hard drive addon and happen to have one of the PS2 hard drives (the ones that were required if you wanted to play games like Final Fantasy XI).
I haven't been able to get games to run off ethernet but freemcboot does allow for it. -

Console gaming isn't like pc gaming, games are tethered to a particular console unless they're big enough to get "remasters".
So the PS2 library is exclusive to that particular console, if you want to enjoy those games you need to keep one around.
Some people will point to emulation but that is never as good as playing natively on the original console, so they will always serve a purpose. -

2019-10-07 at 7:20 AM UTC in Should I get a shelftop sound system or build my own cd playerI could get an HTPC case and build a cd player, in that case I could replace the cd drive when it goes bad eventually but with the shelftop system I could use FM and AM radio occasionally for some nostalgia.
I think the HTPC route sounds more wise in the long run since as long as the CPU doesn't fry I could theoretically keep it going for decades. -

Originally posted by Mud Hole Mania The thing is Ray Tracing isn't just a rendering engine..It's truly slow. It's used more for realistic reflection and shadows. He is using a trademark name raytracer (which yes, once more a friend of Hunter created it)
There are dozens of rendering engines out there. Some free plugins for lghtwave and blender and 3D'S max and Maya..etc.
No way is it the real raytrace brand. Way to fucking slow. On some of the fastest PC it can take hours for one 1900x1080 frame let alone 4k which is what? 4000x5000 ish?
Who knows.
Both Sony and Microsoft have their own custom built proprietary APIs for raytracing.
Who knows how they're going about it but what does matter is that the 9th generation (aside for the Switch) will have much more realistic and detailed lighting, this will really pay off for horror games and games heavy on immersion like Grand Theft Auto and Elder Scrolls. -

Actually I have one that I built in 2014 (i5 cpu that fried and a GTX 780), I have a steam account I'm locked out of with like 200 games but I would rather just stick to playing the PS2 which has the greatest library in gaming.
I'm not interested in pcs anymore except for VR, which will be big on consoles but at least on PC you get stuff like EmuVR and BigScreen.
Once HMDs are to the point where there is no screendoor effect and the resolution is so high it looks like your normal vision I'll get back into pcs. -
