I stopped looking back when I realized the events I was looking back on wouldn't determine where I am now. Like, if I made a different choice at 16 there's literally no telling where I would be now because so many other things would have happened in that time frame. For all I know it could be a lot fucking worse. The key is making good decisions that will effect your short term future, with a rough outline of where you'd like to be in the mid future. As far as long term future goes, there's really no telling so there's not a lot of sense worrying about that either. -

Actually, it is technically illegal to modify the exhaust system, which includes removing the muffler, and there are laws that state it must be under 86 decibels unless it's old as shit, but in order to enforce it a police officer would need to constantly carry a calibrated decibel meter, so it's easier for them to only issue the fix-it tickets to the excessively loud motorcyclists.
As to why they're loud as shit even with the OEM exhaust, it's the selling point for boomers. Look at how quite jap bikes are, and they go fast as fuck. -
