   I’ve been on them because my mind races with thoughts of self deprecation. I started on them before the school of thought was that they are only to be used for short term.

    Yes, I quit after two years of use, I had an abscess on my spinal chord.
    
    I did it extremely slow, cutting my dose by 1/4 a month until I was off. No withdrawals, no “herky jerkies”!
    
    I also just completely quit gabapentin the same way.
    
    I’m doing that now with a benzo I’ve been prescribed for quite some time. I am doing it slower than the others because of the possibilities of adverse side affects.
    
    I’m sick of having meds thrown at me.
