2019-01-01 at 3:14 AM UTC in God damn I hate all the faggots on redditAlso, since I don't use Tor all that much, can you use it to surf the the "clear web"? I mean, if you can, then technically it can function as a VPN.
I've actually never tried though. -

Also, the particular subreddit can be a contributing factor (some are true echo chambers, but not all). -

I basically had two enormous walk-in closets. -

I'm not totally sure why, exactly, but I remember posting this pic on Totse many years ago and I'll never forget this one gal replied with "gross". -

Life since 2001 has felt like being stuck in a series of increasingly bad sequels.
Yeah I'd have to say pretty it's been pretty similar for myself, only I had a few more good years after 2001. But yeah, I think my life pretty much peaked like 2005.
Maybe we'll catch a second wind??
Here's to hoping (and trying) at least...

Indeed. I've always kind of a minimalist.
Well, lately maybe less so than back then.
Interesting tidbit about that picture, the only thing I still have from back then would be that blanket on the couch.
No more VCR and stack of VHS tapes.
No more CRT TV and Monitor.
No more Sega Dreamcast.

Holy shit you just taught me the fundamental difference between emojis and bbcode emoticons.
I mean, I was aware that a bunch of emojis have been inserted into standard text characters, but, it just didn't occur to me that I could use them here for some strange reason.
This emoji party is about to get off the damn chain in a minute, cuz. -
2019-01-01 at 1:24 AM UTC in How does Lanny remain a programmer/coder when his drug of choice is alcohol? And Slack messaging and video conferences are a significant portion of my day as well.
And also, in my case especially, just getting used to some of the best practices that I have little hands-on experience in yet (like writing unit tests, making sure everything is linted, etc). -

Originally posted by Lanny Programming can be challenging and mentally demanding but I've been in the same job for a couple of years and there's really only a handful of basic things that ever come up so it's pretty much autopilot at this point. Boredom is more of a problem than any of the work being difficult. Drunk programming makes it a little more challenging (although you kinda get used to it after a while) and just generally less boring.
Also these days I probably write as much email as code. The organization I work in is pretty dysfunctional and has a lot of systems with strict ownership, so I can easily spend more time trying to diplomacy other people into doing the work I need them to do than doing my own.
I'm still in the honeymoon phase, so I haven't quite reached that point yet, at least not where it's fully stabilized, although there is sometimes some grunt work where I unironically have to use COPY+PASTE programming (with some slight modifications of course), or some other routine stuff where I can go into autopilot.
And yes, that is when the temptation to get high/drunk is at an all-time high. -

Cornwell! I always mixed it up with Cromwell for some reason. He will always be moonmeister to me though.
Maybe one day Tommy Lund will come back.
Everyone eventually comes back.
