2019-03-12 at 8:58 AM UTC in The WHYWhy do you/we use drugs? Alcohol and weed, of course, count here.
Do you ever introspectively analyze the precise psychological mechanisms that lead to using?
And, what's even more intriguing... Why that particular drug? -

Why do we do the drugs that we do?
That's a thread topic right there... -

2019-03-12 at 3:32 AM UTC in THis sit =e is deadBy the way, my archiving is all done.
I have every single thread archived, and every members' profile page.
I can pretty much extrapolate anything else I need from that data once I've parsed it locally.
It was a lot quicker than I expected. -

"Sometimes a person can have a response to a placebo. The response can be positive or negative. For instance, the person's symptoms may improve. Or the person may have what appears to be side effects from the treatment. These responses are known as the "placebo effect."
There are some conditions in which a placebo can produce results even when people know they are taking a placebo. Studies show that placebos can have an effect on conditions such as:
In one study involving asthma, people using a placebo inhaler did no better on breathing tests than sitting and doing nothing. But when researchers asked for people's perception of how they felt, the placebo inhaler was reported as being as effective as medicine in providing relief.
How Does the Placebo Effect Work?
Research on the placebo effect has focused on the relationship of mind and body. One of the most common theories is that the placebo effect is due to a person's expectations. If a person expects a pill to do something, then it's possible that the body's own chemistry can cause effects similar to what a medication might have caused."

So you would have to sequentially etch to a depth of each value into your virtual vinyl disc. -

Yeah, but then you need a physical copy of the record to begin with?
That's gonna be way too expensive and logistically challenging to be of any real use. -

2019-03-12 at 1:11 AM UTC in Modeling a vinyl record and turntable for virtual reality programCome to think of it, it actually wouldn't be anywhere nearly as complicated as I originally envisioned...
The grooves are simply measures of sound wave impressions being etched into the vinyl material at a particular rate.
There are all kinds of libraries for loading audio samples and converting them to purely numerical arrays.
If you're proficient with coding, and also happen to have a decent grasp of some technical audio concepts like Fourier Transform, you should be good to go. -
