I was looking into it the other week, you gotta have like 400,000 views per month or summing plus they'll look at your account and check you're posting the sort of videos that advertisers would want to associate themselves with an all. Obvs they'll be looking if you're stealing other peeps videos when they do that so if you do then clear them out until after they've agreed to monetize your account.
And yeah you can tote have different channels bit youd have to post some really good quality stuff or just flood the shit out of it to make a living with it. I'm pretty sure each video has to reach a minimum number of views to start earning too. Best to just have it as a sideline to top up on your main earnings. At least to start with anyway.
