Maybe I'm misinterpreting your link, but it certainly looks like the increased prosecution under the Bush admi istration, step up in border patrol and the hardline stance not only DRASTICALLY lowered the amount of apprehensions, but increased the number of people moving through legal channels. Hmmm.
And when they come back for the second, third, fifth times?
Ofc this is anecdotal, but one of my main connections was deported probably 7 or 8 times in the years I did business with him. He actually laughed about it and said "they not gonna do to me nothing because I do nothing u know?" In other words, he was helping move hundreds of thousands of dollars of heroin from Sinaloa, but he knew better than to make it overt. The only criminal case the state ever lodged against him, he was able to get plead down to a lesser offense after dragging it out in court for a few years. He actually had stockpiles of stuff at a friends house close to the post office, so when he was to be deported again, they'd send along all the gifts and toys, and they'd celebrate the holidays while he was there. Basically a free ride home. After a few times of that he'd have one of his cousins, newly arrived, take over the day to day activities for him. Then one day the cousin disappears. Turns out he got deported. Couple of month later, dame familiar faces again.
We definitely need a reform of our immigration system. A woman I worked with spent 10 years and $10k with immigration attorneys to gain legal status for she and her family.
Simple deportation isn't any kind of deterrent. At all. From now on when people steal shit, should we just have them escorted out?
I'm bored now.

The words "quid pro quo" are not the crime. Quid pro quo just means something for something. Corruption is provable by the fact that they offered to use their powers of office in exchange for personal political gain.
The problem is not him inquiring about an investigation that may or may not happen at some point, it's about him withholding Ukraine's aid on the condition that it does happen and within the timeframe he wanted, (acting contrary to our national commitment) for personal political gain.
Even whether or not he had actionable information is irrelevant if he took action selectively in order to undermine his political opponent.
And that is really the crux of it: are you honestly so massively fucking deluded that you actually believe, even at this point, that this inquest was to "find corruption" rather than an attempt to fuck over a political opponent?

We dont just hand out billions of dollars out of the good of our collective hearts. Its ALWAYS serving our interests. And since Trump is essentially the lead negotiator for the company that is our country, I would expect him to have certain stipulations when signing off to send a bunch of free fucking money to another country (especially one thats had as many issues with corruption).
I see nothing wrong with looking into whether a rival candidate and previously elected official misused his influence to shield a family member from prosecution.
Where the dividing line is for ME...is whether Trump had legitimate actionable information at the time that he demanded Zelenskiy to begin an investigation. If there was no evidence and he was just being a petty child throwing his gelatinous weight around....then fuck him. Impeach him. Some humility would probably do him good. I still dont want a "woke" president in the white house though.
Since before he even took office, Democrats have been on a never ending witch hunt to see him drawn and quartered. Thats where you begin to lose people like me. I cant take anything any popular politician says as the truth. -
