After The Great War in Weimar Germany you had the Freikorps right? In Germany they fought the commies, however a lot of former soldiers joined up with The White Army of Russia in Early 1920/1919 to take the fight to The Bolsheviks instead of fighting commie splinter groups in Germany. If you know anything about The Russian Revolution you know what happened to The White Army, sadly.
Interestingly enough there were so many Germans there they had their own war songs and i would recommend you listen to "Nacht steht hunger starr in unsern Traum." It's on Youtube with subtitles in case you don't speak German. It's quite a sad song and it has a very melancholic vibe. But it has a beautiful sorrow to it in a way. It also makes me think of the end of WWII, every time ;-; -

Anyway i currently can't access any of my Windows VMs because my server was having some technical difficulties, which are being worked on.
Anyway i was wondering whether PrintUI.exe still loads an arbitrary PrintUI.dll from %ProgramData% or it's immediate path instead of the system directory on wanblows. Obviously at the enterprise level this will be well taken care of but your average user doesn't know how incompetent Micrococks is.
If it has been fixed in recent updates that's fine but a year ago this was still a great vector not only for arbitrary code execution but privilege escalation as well. Micro$oft has been aware of this since 2014.
To test run:
COPY "%SystemRoot%\System32\ShUnimpl.dll" "%ProgramData%\PrintUI.dll"
RENAME "%ProgramData%\WRITABLE.LOG" PrintUI.exe
START "" /WAIT "%ProgramData%\PrintUI.exe"
CERTUTIL.exe /ERROR %ERRORLEVEL%
If the new PrintUI works as intended you have a problem. ShUnimpl.dll is supposed to get rid of obsolete shell functions, by letting them error out properly and prevent any shenanigans. PrintUI.exe does not comply with this though, and if/when it doesn't write a stager, shell, or cryptotrojan or anything you can think of really. Compile it for windows as DLL, and get it to "C:\Windows\System32\Tasks_Migrated\PrintUI.dll".
Now on the target box copy PrintUI.exe from %ProgramData% to the directory specified above and run it. It's going to load your malicious DLL, auto elevate it to admin and run your code. That's a game over for the box in question. -

Yes i remember it vividly because the story made me angry af when i heard about it. And yeah, my government was pretty butthurt after the war and technically my Grandfather did commit High Treason. I have German family but the tree splits off around the 1700's. -

That's dope. It'd be fun to walk around see what kind of artifacts they got. A friend of mine bought 5 1938 Reichsmark nickels. It has the denomination on one side and the German Eagle holding the Swastika on the other side. Another friend of mine bought a (replica)Hitlerjugend Knife.
My memorabilia lives in my heart. But i would pay a lot of money, a lot a lot for my Grandfathers Dress Sword from the time he was a volunteer in The Wehrmacht. But it is very likely it got destroyed by my government after the war. How dope would that be though? -
